The Presence knob on channel 3 of the Mark V isn't doing anything on Extreme mode. It works on Mk IV & II modes and the other channels, but not Extreme...
Did I just not notice this before, or is something faulty?

Did a quick look at the schem and while the presence controls are separate for each Chan the chan voicings shouldn't change the presence function. But it was only a quick look.
 
On my V the presence knob on Extreme makes very subtle changes. It is way less noticable than on the the other modes on channel 3. Maybe it has something to do with the negative feedback of Extreme?

It should do something but it is subtle and different effect compared to other modes.

Rinse and repeat.
 
If I recall, the Extreme mode is based on having the Mark IV lead channel with the presence pot pulled out, which probably changes the range it works on, and/or the effectiveness.

hmmm, it had been a hot minute since I read the manual but I guess that stuck in my brain. LOL

Another thing to note that isn't in the manual... In 10W mode and channel 3 it is hard wired for pentode. The switch on the back doesn't do anything.

The 10W mode is kind of it's own thing, and is the same on all 3 channels. It uses the two power tubes closest to the rectifier tube, along with the tube rectifier, so the triode mode really wouldn't work anyway, as that only affects the middle two tubes, and you'd need both tubes running in the same configuration.
 
It will do something. The negative feedback circuit gets reconnected to the 4 ohm output of the OT and inserts a few other components to reduce the amount of negative feedback on the phase inverter. It is almost similar to a Dual Rectifier Modern mode. Mark I mode also does this but does not introduce any negative feedback reduction. That is normal.
