I have a Mark III Blue Stripe Head and I've been thinkin of going with a Red or Green stripe. I'm after a Metallica type tone, so I have a C+ which is perfect, which of the two stripes (Green or Red) would you guys say is closer to the C+ lead tone? I've heard some say Red and others say...

Thanks guys for the feedback, this is great! How you would you rate/describe the lead channel compared to the Mark series...? I'm lookin for a Metal tone mainly, somewhere along a Metallica 89-92 live era...if that helps, is it a smooth tone?

Are there two versions? I have noticed some have 6L6's and others EL84's, does it have a bias selector? I don't see much info in the user manual on Mesa'a site...

I've been thinkin of picking up a .50 Caliber Plus combo, lookin for a practice amp that can get good Metal tones at lower (bedroom) volumes...so I was thinkin about a .50, it's gotta be a MESA! Any experiences/advice or suggestions?

How would you compare the two, rating gain, smoothness, do you prefer 4 6L6's or 2 EL34 & 2 6L6 (simul of course)? Just curious if anyone has one of each or has tried em at one point or another, I have a 60/100 watt and am trying to nail a good Metallica tone but am not 100% satisfied (yet!).

Controlling Volume: I would like to also know, I usually keep my volumes somewhere around 3-4 for both Master and Lead Volume, but if I were to try and obtain a good tone at bedroom levels how would I go about setting the volumes? Would I be better to keep the Master at 1 (or even half) and...

I can try that. My C+ has an 8 ohm and two 4 ohm speaker outputs. My recto cab has an 8 ohm and two 4 ohm inputs. Would I use two wires, each going from a 4 ohm out of my amp into my cab? Or how exactly would that be done? Thanks for the tips!
