Mesa Mark IV head w/ custom headshell

Selling my Mesa Mark IV head. The amp itself looks brand new. Back in January, I had a custom head shell made for the amp, with black tolex and a red and black grill cloth. So visually, it looks almost brand new. The footswitch is included as well. I am willing to sell the amp for $1100 +...

Safe to disconnect reverb tank from Mark IV?

I never use the reverb on my Mark IV, is it safe to run the mark iv without the reverb tank attached?

What options do I have converting a Mark IVa combo to a head

I just saw it now, for some reason it ended up in my spam folder.

Nice head; love that purple. GTS doesn't seem to active anymore though.

I've actually seen some of your vids before but never saw that in the vid description. Thanks! I'll definitely look into that.

What options do I have converting a Mark IVa combo to a head

I want to convert my Mark IVa combo into a head I can't find a place to by a head shell for it. I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get one for it. Does Mesa still sell them? Or is it possible to use a Mark V head shell for it? If not do I have any other options? Thanks in advance.

    Help me decide!

The mark iv's recording out is pretty bad imo. The smaller mark v's have both headphone out and the mesa cabclone built which sound be MUCH better sounding. They have more features in general, but it depends what you want, I have heard cleans are about even with the mark iv, channel 2 is...

    Mark IV not sounding right

So I moved some tubes around today (not sure if it made a difference exactly) and spent a good two hours messing around with the controls and I am actually very happy with the sound I got, albeit it took some weird settings to get it where I liked how it sounded though. But with a finicky amp...

    Mark IV not sounding right

Alright so I was doing so research on the preamp tubes, and in the A version that I have, apparently, the reverb has a different tube type (12at7) than the other slots, I didn't know that before hand (I just assumed they were all 12ax7) and I had it in the wrong slot so that seems to have helped...

    Mark IV not sounding right

Yeah I'm not thinking it's the power tubes either. I'm gonna try swapping around the preamp tubes and see if it makes any difference in tone, maybe one of them are worn out.

    Mark IV not sounding right

I mostly just copying people's settings right now to try to get something that works, but it seems nearly everyone uses the GEQ on the mark iv. I was thinking maybe the tubes need changing, but they aren't really giving any signs that they are bad. Everything else on the amp appears to be...

    Mark IV not sounding right

So I just recently got a used Mark IVa, and the first day I used it sounded great (maybe I was just excited?) but ever since I really sat down with it, it doesn't sound right. It sounds more fizzy and loose, on both distortion channels, when I compare it to other clips online and I can seem to...

How close can a DC-5 get to a MIV?

If you have any clips of either of the amps (especially the dc-5) I'd like to hear them if you have some. The Dc-5 intrigues me because people say it is a mix of a rectifier and mark IV which sounds awesome, but I am interested in how true that actually is and if it can emulate both of them...
