I do not know how any of the amps stack up against the Lonestar because I don’t have a Lonestar! However, I do have a Fillmore 25 and a Cali Tweed. The Fillmore, in my opinion, is the cleaner of the two in a Fendery kind of way … although with low drive/gain, the CT is pretty clean too...
I completely agree with this assessment. I have a Fillmore 25 head and a 50 combo ... turn the master up to about 2 or 3:00, then get the gain up to 11 or 12 and it starts cooking. The gradual increase in the first half of the volume range is a bit of a wide sweep ... but it will crank if you...

I was looking into the back of my Fillmore 50 Combo and spotted the silver screw hanging down to the right of the 6L6s. It was in kind of crooked, like it was cross threaded.

My Fillmore 25 is dead quiet ... sounds like a poorly seated or failing tube. Since you said you checked the power tubes, definitely check the preamp tubes too. Good luck with it!
Agree ... wish there was. Fillmore section too. I have a 25 head and 50 combo ... great amps. Since getting my 25, never touched my Mark v:25, and finally sold it yesterday.
