I've been boosting a lot lately with the maxon st9pro+. My recto collection is a 95 dual, 99 tremo, 08 single, and 2011 triple mw.

IMO they have always coded their tubes the opposite of how it should be. Reds and yellows run the coolest(bias) , but those are "warmer" colors. Whites and grays run the warmest(bias), but those are "cooler" colors. Just nitpicking! I really like the combo of 440 and 420 together in rectifiers.

I like orange channel better than red in all the modes. Perhaps it's just a better match with my already compressed pickups. (emg, x2n, DB, ect,) Also if not running a boost I might pick red channel for the additional focus, depending on the rest of the rig.

The series2 single with the str447 (el34) tubes might get you in the same ballpark. Running the mini with a bigger cab would also be a good option for beef'n it up some.

IMO they certainly "sound" like t75 cabs on the old albums. If I were wanting to copy their 80's tones that's exactly what I'd use.

I love my single series2, but would reeaally love it if it had a tube rectifier also. I almost never run diode on my other mesas. With a boost in front it turns into a beastly metal amp.
