Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

Just something to add to my initial review above that may help some forum members that I discovered after owning the VII for a while… In my opinion (yours may vary as tone is a subjective thing) …. To get a really excellent clean sound, consider picking up a (brand name) “Super Clean” boost...

Yeah - at first glance, I saw the JP2C plate in the bottom right corner before reading and was thinking wow - they shorted you an EQ! (LOL). I'll give your ideas a shot., bandit. Thanks!

I'm going to try this! I too, have a Mark VII and a Silver Sky (along with two other humbucker PRS guitars) and boy, do I know what you mean by ice-picky! My Custom 24 had a McCarty mod with a push-pull pot to change the 'buckers to single coils, and it's definitely not that harsh in single...

What were the amps you've owned leading to what you have now

I just remembered that between the Mesa V-90 and the Helix, I had a Marshall JVM 410H and a 4X12 1960 cab. I didn’t bond with the tones - it must’ve been the tubes, but I couldn’t find those creamy lead settings you get with a Mesa. I knew I’d forget something!

What were the amps you've owned leading to what you have now

I started playing electric at 8 years old and I’m 68 now. I had an old cheapo Harmony 1X8” to start followed by the Sears Silvertone 2X12” (with the head stored in the cabinet). From there, I moved to a Plush head and 2X 15” cab (big mistake)! Then I got in my first regularly gigging band and...

A Mesa Boogie combo vs head and one twelve with 23" cabinet

The VII combo is surely versatile for tone on each channel. It takes a bit of tweaking to get exactly the sound you want and the again when you change guitars (mainly from humbucker to single coil) but with a little tenacity, it can be done! When you finally find “that sound” you’ve been...

Please help! Major issues when using my FX loop on the Mark VII or Roadster

Just some thoughts that may help from messing with my Mark VII combo. I run a TC Quintessence into the front input with no problems (but that's where a harmonizer should be placed - not in the loop). I've got that, a wah, volume pedal MXR mini boost, compressor and gate all running into the...

Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

I have the VII combo. To me, the Black Shadow speaker in the VII sounds way better than it did in the V combo and my VII speaker isn't even broken in yet. I got a V head and a 2X12" Vintage 30 cabinet about 4 years ago (which I sold to get the VII) and I thought that sounded best, but the VII...
