No thanks, I was only funnin' you...but yer right, If I'd looked at the pic before I said that, I would have seen that they're not EVs... Good luck with the project!

    Diesel 2x10 bass cab

Yes, 4 ohm will work with those speakers. You can send the "good" EV you took out to me...or actually, I'll take 'em both and recone the blown one! ;)

    Need help dating a 400+

Apparently, not. I suggest calling Mesa for that information. They don't do email much and a phone call works better. Good luck,

    Diesel 2x10 bass cab

Heya Bert, good luck in your project! Just curious as to how you're going to wire two 8 ohm speakers to 8 ohm total load? I have two of the older diesel (8 ohm) 2x10 cabs, one has the EV speakers and the other has optional Eden speakers. The Edens are each stamped 16 ohm, and wired parallel...

Anyone build their own bass cab?

I'll never tackle that myself, even as much as a DIY guy that I am. Based on the fact that you can find excellent used Mesa or other brand gear for a lot less than new, and it comes with the "right stuff" built into it, like top-quality components, the right type wood, proper dimensions for the...

I have a question about the eq on my mpulse 600

I don't have that amp, but for starters, try turning every EQ knob back to center. That'll get you close to a "flat" EQ which is a good place to start. Then you have to use your ears and make small adjustments at each frequency till you're happy with the tone. With most quality amps, you won't...

    Bass 400+ question

Not knocking you here, but if it's your first tube amp, maybe assume you don't really know what to look for inside, and just so you know, poking around in a tube amp can be very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. The capacitors hold high voltage and can do serious damage. It sounds...

What Mesa bass rig do you use?

Mesa/Boogie EV loaded diesel cabs and GK 800RB.

    M-Pulse 600

Cool, Boogafunk---GK amp and mesa/boogie diesel cabs are my sound...which cabs do you use? Hey Andy, I won't pretend to know enough about your problem, sorry- so I think you'd be better served maybe by calling Mesa themselves, or maybe Boogafunk or someone else on this forum knows. I have been...

    M-Pulse 600

;) I went through an amp-test-driving period a couple years back, and never got to a m-pulse 600...I used a 400+ for a while and wasn't happy with it. Ashdown ABM really had a sound I liked but it broke twice and spent too much time in the shop. I settled on my GK 800RB and my 73 SVT for amps...

    M-Pulse 600

Good luck, Andy. It would be nice to have that amp put back in totally functional condition. I don't use one, myself, but I've heard many folks rave about them. I like my GK, but it's not for everyone. Best wishes Mike

    M-Pulse 600

I'd almost rule out a valve problem just based on the fact that when you wiggle to cable in the jack, it gets better. The noise could be as simple as the input jack dirty, or a bad connection somewhere. You could try some electrical contact type cleaner, and check to see if you can otherwise...

What were the stock drivers in an older RoadReady 2x10?

I think those would be the same as my old diesel 2x10, Electro-voice. Look inside the back and see if there's numbers stamped on the speaker magnets, such as "1810-2596". Those are EVs.

Old diesel 2x10 bass cab questions

Thanks again for the reply. I have assembled it and tested it again, and it does seem to be working. I cranked the treble on my amp and you can hear the "hiss" get louder as the knob on the cab is turned. It is true that I really don't need to use it, but I was curious if it was working or...
