    Cleaning up a single rectifier

I would have to agree with that. Hum buckers would only get close to "clean" for me. If I needed clean, clean*, I had to use single coils. *What some folks refer to as clean (like that MXR dude, with the pointy beard), others may find slightly gritty, like a five o'clock shadow. To me, clean...

    Maverick 2x12 Pictures with Questions

t bone, did you notice one of your pre-amp tubes is missing? Also, I kinda wonder if a previous owner swapped the chassis, with a different model Mesa 2x12 cabinet.

    Maverick 2x12 Pictures with Questions

t bone, my ROV 112 had pan head sheet metal screws on the back surface of the grill also. I figured they were acting as a stand off of the baffle, for vibration issues. Also, the grill was screwed on from the rear surface of the baffle, into the back of the grill, with 5 or 6 screws, IIRC. I...

Tips on going from 4x12 to 2x12 cab

You didn't mention if it was an open back, closed back, 3/4, or half and half (Road King or Vert), 2x12. They are all quite different, sonically.

Made my loop serial, still sounds bad.

I did a parallel to series loop mod on my ROV II, but my wires are all grey. IDK if this applies to your amp. I searched, but can't find the schematic I used. There were 3 wires on the effects level pot, 1 is disconnected and taped off, and the other 2 are soldered to the center lug (wiper?) of...

Looks like we need a new category...

I ain't seeing nothing with 7 pre amp tubes!!!? Is it gone already?

    Where to now?

Maybe something designed around those solid state tube thingies. IMO, at the rate we're going, eventually all vacuum tubes will be banned from production...on this planet anyway. Hopefully, not in my lifetime. Can they move tube production to Mars yet :?:

    Single Rectifier Solo 50 head

Before World War II, World War I was called The Great War. It's not until after a "2" comes out, that they start saying "1". What? Who's "they" :?:  Congrats on the NAD!

Drop out issue with RectoVerb 50

Alrighty then. I put the 6L6s back in, (already ruled out, and I prefer them anyway) and then did the quicky with the D-5 in all the jacks. Fired it up, and cut head for about a half hour, then poof!!....drop out. Turned it off and put the jumper on the FX loop. Fired it up again, and rode it...

Drop out issue with RectoVerb 50

Thanks dom! I will try the first two. If that don't get it, I'll probably order 5 new 12AX7s, since the present ones are probably the originals, going on 15 years. I'm suspecting a bad contact somewhere, but the heavy attack bringing it back temporarily, is throwing me.

Drop out issue with RectoVerb 50

I swapped the 6L6s with EL34s and still the same issue. When it drops out and I flip to stand by, it comes back to volume for a split second and fades out, just like a normal "switch to stand by sound". I wait a few seconds, switch out of stand by, it comes back to life for few seconds, then...

Drop out issue with RectoVerb 50

I've been having a strange issue with my ROV 50. After noodling around for about a half hour, while using both channels back and forth for a couple minutes, the sound just drops out unexpectedly, usually when it's in channel 2. I can hear the guitar just very, very faintly. Right next to silent...

    OD vs. distortion pedal advice

I run my ROVs channel 1 in clean mode, with the gain at about 9:30, for squeaky clean*, and punch in a MXR Superbadass distortion, disto set about 9:00, to get a nice twangy stubble, with some boost. I set channel 2 on vintage, with the gain at about 12:30, and prefer that without the pedal...

    Mesa Dual Rectifier Refurbishing Help.

Welcome License2chill. Usually, stained and finished cases are made from appearance grade solid wood rather than plywood, for obvious reasons. You could order some new Tolex and recover it yourself. There are countless YouTube tutorials on this subject. Or you could have a professional do it...

HELP!! How much would you pay for a Single Rec? $675.00?

Well then, I feel pretty good now, after doing some research of my own and knowing there's actually a Solo 50 Head residing inside my ROV, plus reverb, plus speaker, and I only paid $650 :P And really, thinking beyond it's value, it doesn't matter, because the sound and feel of it are...
