Strat-type n00b looking for upgrade advice

I rebuilt/hot rodded my 1982 Strat.... If I could do it all again I would just go and order a Carvin Bolt to my specs. I could have had two made for me for the same amount put into the Fender and both would have surpassed the Strat. That said.... I installed a Kahler Pro recessed on my...

    Aqua Puss vs Carbon Copy

I like the footprint of the Carbon Copy better..... less space taken up. But as far as a tone comparison I'm not sure.... sorry

    which od pedal

The question by the original poster was which OD pedal so I took that literally and didn't consider the Fuzzface. And I agree that if you want it all you'll need one of these as well.... But the Butler OD is a huge part of his sound as well. Listen to some of Alan Hinds stuff... he's getting...

    which od pedal

If you want a killer pedal that will get you in the Eric Johnson ballpark try the Xotic AC Booster. Check out the comparison on Youtube with the Zendrive. I figured for half the price the AC Booster would be a good bet and it's awesome. I had the BB PReamp and although it's smooth it's more...

    Compressor

LOL It's okay Elvis :) Some of the stuff I've read turned me off as well. I happen to come across the pedal on Craigslist for $95 so I went with it. Hands down the best compressor I've ever used.

    Compressor

I picked up a Barber Tone Press last week. Great pedal.... It's not leaving my board. I guess it depends what sort of compression you're after.

Carvin amps... what do you think??

I've never tried the X100B but I've heard really good things about them. Hard to try one because they sell direct but when I wanted to try the Legacy I just ordered one and had 10 days to try it and send it back if I didn't like it. It ended up replacing my Stiletto Deuce II.

    Carvin DC800

    Carvin DC800

Carvin makes awesome guitars..... I've been playing for 35 years and never played a guitar that touches my new ST300C..... They make phenomenal guitars.

Carvin amps... what do you think??

Carvin has all of the schematics on their webpage... If your tech is sharp he/she should have enough smarts to find them. If not it might be time to find a more internet savvy tech. Try an MXR EQ in the loop for your rhythm settings.... you can pull and add to the frequencies. Gezzzz... Mesa...

Carvin amps... what do you think??

Amp choice is selective for sure.... I've owned 4 Mesa amps.... a Rectifier Series, Lone Star Classic, MK IV and a Stiletto Deuce II My Carvin Legacy II does not take a back seat to any of these amps. Everyone who has heard my tone as I've played these amps through the years has commented...

    New Guitar Carvin CT624

I ended up getting an ST300 instead of the CT624... Amazing guitar.

    New Guitar Carvin CT624

I played some at the Carvin Factory in March.... I was blown away and ordered one. Should be here in a few weeks... I'll post some pics and thoughts when I get it. :).....

Looking for a new guitar (PRS, Gibson, etc)

    If you can...try a Carvin

    Paul Allender PRS

I tried one out at a local music store.... it was okay I guess... Nothing special. Why don't you try a Carvin CT series? I played one a few weeks ago... $1400 and it played nicer than any PRS I've played to date.
