Just like the title says...what’s the consensus on what is the best Mesa 1x12 cab to pair with the Mark V:25 for playing metal? Just got the V:25 and am itching to pair it with an awesome cab. I’m leaning towards the widebody closed back but I don’t know...
Great, thanks guys! I did start with the manual but I was looking to hit Metallica territory and thought maybe someone had a go to setting they used. I took your advice Elvis and I'm glad I did. Thanks again, boys.
I've seen lots of settings for the Mark series amps floating around the web but not all that many for the Rectoverb 25. Anybody got any go to settings for metal on the ROV25? Mine arrives tomorrow and I'd love to start off on the right foot with it!
So the extra tube in the ROV doesn't do anything tone wise then? Just handles reverb I assume.
While I've got your ear, would you say I could pull out Metallica like tones out of these amps?
I've searched high and low for reviews on both of these amps (mini rec and ROV25). Most of the time people say they are exactly the same except the addition of reverb on the ROV25. However, there seems to be a vocal minority that thinks the two amps have different sounds and one is better than...
That's the thing...I'll only need a 1x12 because I play with a drummer only. We play in my basement and I have a bar down there...after clearing the beer glasses off of it, I'll put the amp up there making it about face level. If it doesn't cut it, I can always add another cab I suppose.
Do you guys think it's possible to get that tight, early Metallica tone from a Rectoverb 25? Possibly using an eq ran in the effects loop? I've been pondering this. I saw a video on youtube where a guy compares a ROV25 w/an eq and a Mark V25 side by side. It sounded similar but it was not a high...
Great info! I was eyeballing the signature 1x12 with a v30. I want to grab that tight early metallica tone if I can and not break the bank. Looks like Avatar is going to work out :)
Yeah man, I've been looking at Avatar cabs...really cool way to customize your rig. I had no idea they existed before this thread. I see one in my near future...
I'll be playing in my basement....sometimes with a drummer but not a bassist or anything. I want to make sure I don't get too loud and piss the neighborhood off. I'm trying to find that sweet spot I suppose.
I think you are right though...I'd rather have a badass head with a cheaper cab that I...
Hmmmm...Well now I suppose the question has officially changed. I played mostly metal/rock...and It's either a Mark V25 with a cheap 1x12 cab or Rectoverb 25 with a good 1x12 cab.
I really appreciate the responses and I get something new to think about each time.
