Anyone play a rosewood neck guitar through a Recto?

I play my Modern Eagle Singlecut through my Rect-o-verb all the time. It's exactly as you put it. There's a scooped sound from it. At the same time, the string clarity is amazing and the neck is incredible. I have to change my EQ a bit when I play it (vs. my Mira which right now is my #2)...

Recto-Verb slow to come out of standby

Thanks - this happens when put in standby after playing for an hour or so. The amp is 8 years old, so maybe the filter caps? 4 out of 5 of the preamp tubes are NOS, so I hope that's not the issue. The power tubes are about 3 years old. Just want to make sure I'm not going to lose a...

Recto-Verb slow to come out of standby

Not sure if this is a tube problem or something else: Recently, when coming out of standby, it takes a second for sound to come out and sounds almost like a volume swell (starting soft until full volume). Also during this time, it will vary in volume (start soft, go almost full, soft and then...

    Fuse holder?

I have a similar issue with my Recto-o-verb. I pulled out the fuse once, went to push it back in but there was no spring effect. When I pulled it back out again, the fuse was stuck in the amp. I had to play with it and It finally caught, and I'm assuming it's okay, but no real way to check...

Question: Does using tubes besides Mesa/GT void warranty?

technically yes, but I know that if I had to send my Mesa in for warranty work, I would definitely replace any other brands with Mesa tubes first

    Which Power Attenuator

Picked up mine local for $120. (prices have gone down a bit since '92 ;) ). The other good thing is the XLR out for recording - since it is also a cabinet emulator, it works really well when recording both the speaker emulator and mixing with a mic in fornt of my cabinet.

    rect-o-verb

No - Solo function still works fine.

GT-8, 4 cable method, and my Rectoverb

One thing I found necessary - when doing your sound leveling between using the Preamp and not, you'll have to fiddle with the Output and Master knobs first. So if I want to toggle my Loop on or off (so I can have a clean sound), I worked with the Output and Master knobs to get the levels set...

rectoverb50 - experimenting with tubes, amp settings.

Power tubes: I went through most of the Mesa brands (STR430's,420's and 454's), I liked the STR454 the best - they were a bit more open but a lot fuller and you felt the bass a lot more. A better rhythm tube in my opinion. I then tried JJ's (through Eurotube), but didn't like them - too shrill...

rectoverb50 - experimenting with tubes, amp settings.

Raytheons are great - they open the sound up and make it fuller, adding some harmonic richness to it (It's very tough trying to describe what it was like, but I had them in my V1 for a while since I liked the sound). I would highly recommend throwing one in and see how you like it. I tried...

rectoverb50 - experimenting with tubes, amp settings.

I tried their Mullard copy in V1 and thought it sounded better than the Mesa 12AX7. But, as soon as I put in more than one, I lost too much high end and it sounded like someone threw a blanket on the amp. I found that I kind of liked it more in V2 than V1, but each to his own...

rectoverb50 - experimenting with tubes, amp settings.

I went through my own tube journey about 2 years ago. I play newer rock, PRS Modern Eagle Singlecut through a Mesa oversized cabinet. Play on the "modern" setting (the "vintage" setting is too bassy with the guitar). After playing mix and match for almost a year, I've come to the following...

    Yet another cabinet question....

If you daisy-chain the 2 8-ohm cabinets, do you connect to the 8-ohm output, or one of the 4-ohm outputs?
