    Toska - Raebea Massaad tones

Thanks man. I'll search out that vid - not sure how I missed it. I watch all the Anderton's stuff regularly. I'm generally not into Djent or down tuned super high gain stuff, but I think the Ode to the Author ep is a gem.

    Toska - Raebea Massaad tones

Hey all, I've been obsessed with the "Ode to the Author" ep by the UK's "Toska". I know the guitarist uses a Victory Kraken with 6L6 for his full gain tone and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to get close to that sound with the Mark V combo. He plays in Drop C and uses a...

mark v doesn't like new les paul (classic 57+)

I have LP Traditional. I pulled the 57's out of it and threw in a Duncan JB and Jazz. I could never find the tone I wanted with the 57s. That being said, still not crazy about the LP through the Mark V. Sounds great with my Ibanez 7 String though.

Recomendation needed - clear sounding overdrive pedal

The TC spark is super clear either in front as a gain boost or in the loop for a volume boost. I usually swap between that and a TS9.

    Back to the Boogie

So last year, I felt like my tone wasn't very good with the Mark V combo. I picked up a blackstar HT 40 and really fell in love with it. I generally play a Les Paul traditional loaded with Duncan JB/Jazz. This weekend, after months and months of only playing my Blackstar, I plugged my Ibanez RG...

    Jerry Cantrell tone Mark V

I use Crunch Mode (Ch 2) with the preset EQ at about noon. I also have an AC Booster in front for a little extra sustain. Once I put my JB and Jazz in my Les Paul, it made a world of difference.

Which pedals work well with the V? Which don't?

@pivot Why the EP Booster in loop? I have an AC Booster in front. Does it make that much of a difference?

Can you swap a Mark V out of a combo into a head easily?

Hey guys, how much does the head shell run? I'm not a fan of the combo I have... that's a lie - it's a love hate. I've played the head through an Orange 2x12 and it sounded great. I mostly play at home and go to the rehearsal studio once a week or so, so I don't want to unload a ton of cash...

Foot Controller on or off your board

jb's 52 - I completely agree. When I was just playing in a basic hard rock/metal band I had the room, but now that we're experimenting with Post-Rock, I had to load up the board. I spend enough money on pedals... I don't need to buy something else just to get rid of the foot controller. I'll...

Foot Controller on or off your board

So, I usually have my main pedal board that I only use with my Mark V and a "road" board with my "b" pedals that I take to rehearsals and jam sessions to use with the amps at the studio. The boogie foot controller is on my main board and I can reach all the functions easily... however, the...

    OD in front - Wow!

I've had my Mark V since 2010. I have the combo and always felt any other amp I played sounded better. Last week, I added a BOSS Blues Driver to my chain in front of the amp and I was really surprised how full it made the crunch channel sound. I wasn't necessarily after more gain, just...

Volume Pedal... I know I know but check this out. Volume X

I have the volume X and I'm liking it a lot. No battery, expression out, smooth, doesn't change my tone... what more do you need?

    Opeth Tone? Need Help

Here's an update. I got the JB & Jazz installed on my Les Paul... and they sound killer! They are crisp, articulate and punchy. I strum chords with high gain and can hear every note. The neck pickup feels less "liquidy" for melodic one note or solo passages, but it's nice and clean. I'm very...
