Holy Crap!!! That's a great deal.... I paid 699 for a 1x12 combo and thought that was ridiculous... for 499 for a head my wallet would have come out faster than josey Wales' peacemakers.

Only boogie out of 11 i still own...60 watter no reverb. It's like a high wattage fender but much better. More mids and the ability to overdrive it without pedals. Input 2 is straight up vintage Fender, Input 1 is "boogie" cascaded gain. Awesome amps...

I have sob #464. My presence knob had no tonal effect either 0-10. It is actually a limiter but says presence on the faceplate (on mine anyways). I just don't touch that knob... Great amp! I love mine. BTW. Reading through this thread really gave me a headache for some reason.

Everything i'm reading from the op makes me think this is just a tube problem. I'm willing to bet a total retube would cure all of these noise/tone problems.

Well you DO have a lot more experience with this particular amp than i do, so i imagine you're ears are a lot more in-tune with that nomad sound. I have played with mine for probably a total of about 4-5 hours on it over a period of months. I'ts quite possible/probable that you are noticing...

LOL. No hearing loss. Unless my doctors have just been giving me passing grades because of my mad skilllzzzz..... I can also very easily discern tonal differences between tubes,speakers,cables etc.... That's just what I experienced. I don't think it would be a stretch to think that everyones...

Tried the "mudmod", no audible difference to my ears. My nomad has just been sitting for a couple years so i figured i would give it a go. I got my nomad as part of a bigger trade deal a few years ago, and after fiddling with it a bunch of times, and trying different tubes etc.. covered it up...

This. I bought a like new roadster combo for $1100.00 I didn't really dig it so i sold it and made a couple c-notes. But if you don't have ANY basic knowledge of tube amps, or have a local trusty tech, i guess new was your best option.

I found whats even better than velcro is those plastic zip ties. Once i started using those i never had to deal with velcro again..And they are cheap!!!
