    The power of 750

I was playing with my brother this past weekend, had the Mark V raging. But whenever I was using channel 3, my tone got lost in the jam. Being relatively new to Mesa amps, I have set up the GEQ in the v shape. Well, I ended up bumping up the 750 slider to just below the center line and bam! Cuts...

pedals that do not suck your tone FXLoop Mark V

My personal favorite delay is the TC Nova Delay. Very studio sounding and no volume mismatch. My old Boss DD3 is a solid backup, but very digital sounding. Had a DL4 and didn't care for it, to mucky and muddy.

    Mark V with a 1x10"? You bet!

Ok, I'll keep all channels at 45 watts. That should prevent a meltdown.

    Mark V with a 1x10"? You bet!

I love my Mark V head when paired with my 2x12" cab (Vintage 30 and Weber Blue Dog), but recently I was picked up to play in a band where a 2x12" just is such a nightmare to get to rehearsal (small basement down a flight of stairs in the drummers house). I decided that I needed a light weight...

Channel 3 noise and popping footswitch

I would have never thought to change V7, but an email to Mesa sent the suggestion my way. I don't know why it worked, but hey, I can't argue with the result.

Channel 3 noise and popping footswitch

Swapped V7 and the popping is gone. Still a little hiss on channel 3, but nothing like before. Of course it was the very last tube I try! The manual says that V7 rarely goes out, but there you go. I tried the "bad" tube in another amp and sure enough it is microphonic. Back to playing!

Channel 3 noise and popping footswitch

I'm down to one tube left to swap. I did try V1, no change. Ugh. So all that is left is V7. I had to leave for the weekend so it will have to wait. If V7 doesn't clear it up, I'll take it up to Petaluma to have it checked out (I live about 50min from the factory).

Channel 3 noise and popping footswitch

A bit of an update: Tried swapping V3, 4, 5 & 6. Had some noise reduction with v3 but nothing else. I did check a few other things: 1. All switches on the amp pop. ALL of them. Didn't do this before. 2. When I hard bypass the effect loop, this hiss on channel 3 becomes unbearable. Not sure...

Channel 3 noise and popping footswitch

The hiss on channel 3 and popping footswitch started in the middle of a playing session. I was switching the GEQ on and off multiple times trying to balance the 2 and 3 channels a bit. The pop occurs even when all 3 channels are the same power level. The hiss is only in channel 3 and that is...

Channel 3 noise and popping footswitch

So this weekend I was playing my Mark V Head, when after a half hour of playing and some rather active channel switching, Channel 3 began to hum/hiss pretty bad and the footswitch began to pop when changing channels. Ok, so power down, let cool, reset everything and wait a half hour. Power back...

    Finally heard a JP2C live

Did they just play "The Astonishing" or was it a variety of tunes. I had heard they were going to do a theatrical version of the Astonishing album, but it was all rumor.

    Mark V : 35 or full on Mark V?

I faced a similar dilemma when I got my Mesa. I ended up getting a used V. I tried the V:25 and V:35, but to me the thud and power of the 6L6 power amp just felt better to me. My favorite settings right now are: Channel 1 at 90watts, Channel 2 and 3 both at 45watts. It just hits harder and...

Strange noise with notes on G string

So you took the tube shields off and the noise went away? Well done sir! I would have never thought to try that. For me the noise goes away with HUmbuckers (see earlier post), but that would indicate to me that one of the springs is either a bit weak in the shield or just happens to vibrate at...

    5/50 on the skids

    It's not under warranty?

Strange noise with notes on G string

Well, swapped out the SSS set on one of my strats ( one that displays the exact same symptoms as the op has), with an HH set. Problem is gone. No more funky noise/rattle/sound. I guess channel 2 with certain settings (mine is Mark I with lower gain) doesn't play well with single coil strat pups...
