First tube amp! Tremoverb! Cabinet question!

Don't skimp out on your cab. You have a great amp, and it needs a great set of speakers to compliment it. The speakers are so important!!! I have a recto 2x12, with V-30s...and a recto 4x12 also with V-30s. The V-30s are great speakers for a very wide range of music. Nothing beats a 4x12...

Rectifier Switch.....vacuum tubes or solid state diodes?

That pretty much sums it up.

    Need help with roadster immediately.

Mic your amp. Mic your amp. Mic your amp. V-amp / pod / Vetta / etc. sound poor direct and so do direct outs on amps that have them...there is no substitute for a great tube amp mic'd. I've tried em all, take my word for it.

    chosing a boogie - best all-rounder?

Incorrect statement. The Roadster is in fact a Dual Rectifier, as is the Road King.

Local dealer tells me not to buy a Boogie!

I concede that the deficiencies in digital sound production vs. analog could be an academic issue only if technology advances beyond a certain point (ie. what a human can actually differentiate) but (a) it is a physical impossibility for a digital process to perfectly emulate an analog one...

Local dealer tells me not to buy a Boogie!

[RANT ON] Since we're talking about Line6's flagship Vetta, True, non-musicians can't tell the difference usually and audiences may even prefer something like Vetta that can approach more closely what they hear on an mp3. True, Vetta is possibly the most versatile amp out there. True, Vetta...

    RKII, Roadster & MKIV

    - You will notice that members of The Mark IV Mutual Admiration Society tend to be the most opinionated and vocal around here. But many others are the same way; their current amp is always "the best", the holy grail...others are no good or substandard. Interesting psychology. - I own...

    Wow. I love this thing.

The Mark IV Mutual Admiration Society meeting will now come to order...

No Mark IV's to test in any stores

Everything you said is true with the exception of "anyone who tells you otherwise is intimidated & scared of it". Putting down everyone else who disagrees with you and characterising them that way, is naive at best. Here's an example of a valid opinion that happens to differ from yours...

6L6 vrs EL34 any tone difference?????

On both my Roadster and my Single Recto, although of course they always sound like a recto, there is a distinct difference in sound AND feel when using different tubes. Yes it is more pronounced when cranking the power tubes but it is still obvious at lower volumes. I've tried many different...

    Roadster on the way

    1. you can almost certainly use the JJ EL-34s. 2. you can order an "integrated quad" of 2x6L6 + 2xEL34 that will all run on EL-34 bias setting on your roadster, from Eurotubes. It is a great sound using both types of tubes. (you can also get E34Ls, KT77s, 6V6s that will also run in the...

6L6 vrs EL34 any tone difference?????

Yes, and in my experience I would describe the difference as "very pronounced". Like as in, my wife could maybe even tell.
