LSC footswitch mod - SOLO surprise!

Nice! Pics? Where did you place the switch? Right in the middle on the Mesa logo?

    LSS for Jazz

This is REALLY depending on the guitar you are using. In fact, it is extremely different from archtop to archtop. I use the top settings with my Höfner Jazzica Custom; if too bassy/fat I raise the treble a bit and lower the mids (turning each towards each other, but maintaining the same...

Anyone else get the hum after switching off?

Good routine! :D You don't really have to wait any specific amount of time between putting it on standby and powering off, but it's good to wait a little while. I usually give it 10-15 seconds on standby, then power off. Glad to hear it went away! Just remember keep a spare couple of...

Anyone else get the hum after switching off?

Last time I experienced something like this was when my Mark IIC+ died on-stage. I don't get it with my Lonestar. It's definitely something in the power section: you should get it looked at. Perhaps watch the tubes? Try swapping a few out with new ones and see if that helps. Might also...

Tone controls pre or post gain?

I'm sorry! My bad: they're post gain. I was thinking serial vs. parallel tone-control string. The manual clearly states that the tone controls come after the gain stages, not only this but you can clearly see it on how the controls are layed out: they're usually placed similar to the signal path.

    They're pre-gain.

    Special Power Tube Question

YES, you are right. Actually, three tubes are used in the single-ended Class-A mode. Two tubes are running parallel in Class A, and the last one is used to balance the output transformer correctly (as it is not originally made for single-ended Class A). Using only one tube would seriously damage...

Okay to play acoustic guitar through my LSS?

Why not just pass it through the Loop Return? It's the power section input, and then you can control the overall volume with the master output control. The preamp is meant for high impendance instrument level guitar signals.. probably won't work very well.

Lonestar on Jazz Duty: EL34s more suitable than 6L6s/5881s?

I recently did a full retube of my Lonestar Classic with new Mesa 12AX7 preamp tubes (relabeled JJs, as far as I've heard) and Mesa STR-425s (Russian 5881s). I'm not very fond of the supposed JJs, by the way. Some harshness when overdriven here and there; have that nasty clipping bite that...

Lonestars need guitars, let's see em!

Hehe, thanks man! :P The first one is a Music Man 20th Anniversary Silhouette. Fantastic solidbody. Amazing ergonomics and truly magnificent quality and setup straight from the factory. I've had it for a year and a half now, and I've recently changed the stock custom DiMarzio pickups to a...

New Mesa (relabeled JJs) AX7s contributing to harsh tone?

May I ask where you bought from? And what exactly do you mean by "matched sections"? Thanks! :D
