    History of The Stiletto Series

Created as a JCM crunch channel, Boogie Lead channel. Marketed as a modern counterpart to the Recto - it wasn't. Lots disappointed metal players expecting an EL34 based take on the Recto. So the originals were marked way down to make way for a re-voiced version (Series II).

    6ca7 Tubes

Adding to the Stiletto Stage 1 din. Bought mine new when Guitar Center was blowing them out to make way for the Stage 2. And like everyone else, couldn't get rid of the top-end fizz or the low-end flub. Always had to EQ in the loop (4cm). Played plenty of gigs with that setup. Wasn't great...

    Mark III weak overdrive

Which tubes have you swapped out? From the manual... I just had a similar issue with substantial gain reduction. Dirty EQ sliders were the culprit. Dirty potentiometers could also cause the issue you have described. Marks are dust-bunny magnets, need to be cleaned regularly. If you are not...

Safe to disconnect reverb tank from Mark IV?

My tech (Lowell Amps) recommends pulling the tube as well.

Mark V 25w, how to stop the fan ?

This little amp runs very hot. I would hesitate to disable the fan. There are replacement fans all over ebay. Find a quiet one.

Just bought a Throttle Box EQ

Drop the middle slider all the way down and start from there.

    MINI MARK V

There is a surprising amount of low end available in this amp. Rolling my crunch lab equipped jackson 7 string thru this is thunderous! Crunch channel for da win!

    Mark v 25 EQ

Welcome to the Mark Club! You picked up on the secret sauce pretty quick. Some players never get it, and go back to what they are used to. \m/

    Mark V: 25 Speaker choice & impedance

From the manual... MESA/Boogie amplifiers can handle 4 and 8 ohms effectively. Never run below 4 ohms in a tube amplifier unless you are absolutely certain that the system can handle it properly; this can cause damage to the Output transformer. A few amplifiers can handle 2 ohms effectively...

Mark III blue or Red stripe like Mark V Extreme mode?

You can get close with the III, but you'll need the lead channel to get it. Or add a Throttle Box in front - that should do it. :)

    Petrucci Meets the Mark V:25!

Didn't think it was possible to want this more.

Mark V and Boogie pedals for drive

The only pedal, IMO, worth using would be the tone burst. Mark series amps love having the front end pushed a bit. Mark V's have a wide selection of gained-up tones already in the box.

Switch Channels On The Mark V with the Fractal Axe Efx II

The AxeFX has one switching jack. The Mark V has four. You can control one function without external gear. To control all foot switchable functions, you will need something like the RJM Amp Gizmo. MFC101 > AxFX > Amp Gizmo > Mark V :D

Ola Englund demos the Mark Five:25

When he cranked the gain in IIc mode it sounded bad ***. Really bad ***.
