I'm on a quest for a blackface Super Reverb and will be parting with my old Boogie IIB to fund the purchase. I've had this amp for about ten years. I bought it from Groove Tubes main headquarters in Southern California. I had it sent to Mesa Boogie and Mike Bendinelli went through the amp and...
I sent my boogie into Mesa to get a tune up and to get the upgraded effects loop circuit. This was done about 4 or 5 years ago. Can someone tell me if this is a series loop or a parallel loop. I'm trying to figure this out. I would love some input on the differences between these types of...
Gonzo...I have a pair of the 928-pr Groove Tubes Substitubes. Groove Tubes has stopped making these. I just bought another pair yesterday so I can run 4 at once...(Yeah Vox AC30!)
Anyway, I would suggest anyone that has been considering these to get them asap as once they're gone they're gone...
I sold my G Major a few years back, but didn't sell the 'G-Minor' footswitch with it. The G Minor is a nice controller for your G Major...built in tuner, etc...T.C. Electronics doesn't make them anymore.
If you want one, shoot me a PM and I'll give you a good deal on it.

Can you substitute KT66 for 6L6 tubes in a mark IIb boogie amp? Has anyone done this? I need to get some new tubes and am looking for something a bit different.

Ok..my slo-blo fuse is toast...amp should be good with new tubes.
Any suggestions for a new set of 6L6s? I seem to always buy Mesa or Groove tubes due to the set bias of my mark IIb. Can anyone suggest anything else? I like blues and rock and rock...nothing too high gain.
Thanks-

I just popped a power tube while I was playing...started sounding funny and then sound faded out. Bad smell. One power tube dark, the other bright as a super nova...the bad smell is bothering me...I hope this didn't fry my amp...the strange thing is that now my power light is off and wont...
Nice custom Les Paul. I used to own a 1971 that looked just like that one, though mine didn't have the gold covered pickups...they were Dimarzios.
Nice rig for sure!
I had the G Major through my Mark IIb and really liked it. Incredible delays and nice chorus. This was after Mike B at Boogie put in the new FX Loop. I can't recommend enough that you get that mod done. I was headed into the rack effects path and did a 180 back to pedals.
Anyway, its a nice...
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was thinking about the Sozo blues for the tweed Fender mojo...
I didn't know about the light traces in boogie boards. That seems so strange to me as the rest of the amp is built like a tank. I'll take it slow for sure.

It would be cool to swap out a pair of 6L6s for EL34s. You couldn't make a non simulclass amp into a simulaclass amp without an OT replacement, but you could rewire for one set of EL34s instead. Running a set of 6L6s and EL34s would be very nice for all of us that don't have a simulclass...
Has anyone tried replacing their coupler caps in their boogies? Any other amp tuning mods that might be worth trying? I dont want to change anything major, just want to play around with tone. Mike B at Boogie has already done the effects loop upgrade. I've played around with NOS Mullards and...
Well very cool! Thanks for the id. This is a very nice sounding tube for sure! I have an old 5751 in V1 and this tube in V2....mesa boogie tubes in the rest. I think I'm going to continue trying older tubes to replace the other Mesa tubes.
Thanks again!
