    .50 Caliber - Celestion 30's & G12T-'s

I have a mesa 4x12 traditional cab with all V30s and I like it with my mark III, but I picked up a cheap Lopoline cab and loaded it with 2 V30s and 2 GT75s in an X pattern and I like that more when playing high gain. A lot more low end and a little brighter than the traditional 4x12. And the...

Mark IV found on Craigslist for $900!

Same post in Buffalo. http://buffalo.craigslist.org/msg/905757811.html Guessing it's a scam. If the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.

Well I got my tube set from Dougs tubes tonight

I've been thinking of swapping out the JJ pre's for Tung Sol. I like the JJ's in V3-V5 in my Mark III. They actually did wonders for my clean and reverb, but the comments about them being a little dark are dead on. What does everyone think of TungSol's and/or Penta/Chinese in V1 and V2? I've...

    Mesa Recto 4x12?

I guess it all depends on what you're trying to change in your sound. I play modern metal with some drop tuning using a traditional 4x12 (which I believe is the stiletto now) and a road king cab. The road king is really good. It's sound huge, it's tight and clear and projects very well. The...

Mark III to be or Not to be>>>>

So true. I think the worst habit of mine is I get too comfortable with the settings of my Mark III and don't try changing it up at all. Whenever I get bored and try something new, I'm shocked what sounds the amp can produce, but most of the time I use the same settings I've always used and I...

Yet another "what speakers should I get" thread...

Put one of the EVs back in the bottom (or a V30) and throw one of the T75s (or a C-90) in the top. I have a mix of V30s with T75s or C90s in different cabs and love both combinations. I've also heard that the C90s and T75s go very well together, though I haven't done that myself. Mix and match a...

How can I make my Triple Recto sound 'bigger'

I ran a Marshall 1960a cab with my Mark III and it never did it for me. I swapped out 2 of the GT75s for V30s in the cab and it was night and day. A much fuller sound, lost some of the high end, but filled out so much in the middle and low end I never cared. I wasn't a big fan of the highs...

2x12 recto cab: good for clean stuff?

The Herbet sounds awesome with the 2x12, just don't push it too much. 180W amp with 140W cab. I have a 4x12 roadking, 4x12 traditional, 2x12 recto and a front-loaded 4x12 lopo line cab. The road king is my favorite cab of the 4, but the 2x12 is 2nd. It's a great cab. I'm thinking of getting...

2x12 recto cab: good for clean stuff?

Depends on what kind of clean you're going for. If you want a crisp, bright, Roland JCish clean, probably not. If you want a warmer, fenderish clean, definitely. A lot of it will depend on the amp, of course. The recto 2x12 isn't the brightest cab, but it's got a lot of low end and great mids...

    Roadking v Recto 4 x 12 Cab - Newbie help requested

Unless you only run one side of the Road King 2x12, you're going to get a resistance of just under 3ohms when you link the cabs together. That would not be good for the head. You could run head -> recto > 1 side of the road king and get a 4ohm load which would be fine, but if you're running the...

    cab for nomad 100

I run my Nomad 100 1x12 with a Mesa Oversized 2x12 and it brings out a whole new dimension to the amp. I'm really happy with the setup.

Mixing Black Shadows with V-30s in a 4X12 Cab

I'm guessing by black shadows, you mean MC-90s. If so, Mesa does it in their Road King cabs. 4x12 Road King is 2 V30s and 2 Black Shadows and the 2x12 Road King is 1 V30 and 1 Black Shadow. They sound fantastic. It's a great mix.

    Roadking v Recto 4 x 12 Cab - Newbie help requested

If the sound guy won't setup 2 mics (most I know look at you like you're on crack if you even ask), I usually mic the V30. The V30 by itself is not my favorite sound, but in a band mix it sounds very good. It's got more mids and low end than the MC-90. The MC-90 is brighter and didn't quite have...
