One thing about these amps is that the jacks can build up some corrosion, mostly the ones you don't use. Sounds like snake oil but: take an old 1/4 inch cable, soak the jack with detoxit. plug, spin and unplug in each jack socket, wipe off the jack and re do it until the jack comes out clean...

    Dc-5 in the shop

Sorry to hear you are having problems man. My DC 5 is my go to main amp for decades. Not sure what the part is that you're looking for, but sometimes with older gear (not just audio) you have to improvise or fabricate. This amp is so worth keeping up. Hope you are able to fix it. I don't think...

    Quiet DC-5

Ditto on cleaning the jacks. I guess the switches inside cause some issues. Mine were the fx jacks that fixed it. but all the jacks get some maintenance ever since. Hope it helps Mac

    Dual Caliber 5 acting strange

I forgot to mention that cleaning out the jacks is also very important. I think there may be some switches in the loop jacks that can cause issues. I spray then plug and unplug a patch cable and twist several times. I don't really know why but that has fixed a few strange problems too. Over all...

Scored DC-5. Why are they so loud?!?!?

Hello I've been off line for a long time. I also have a DC-5 and have struggled with the volume issues. Besides the usual fixes that the good folks here have advised, mainly snipping the resistor at the volume pot. I have had great luck with the mesa 6L6 tubes and mesa spax7 in v1. Here's...

    dc-5 combo with extension cab

Hello all. Has anyone tried a combo with mini rectifier cab underneath? Or any other cabs that are a good match? also, would I plug in to the 4 ohm jacks to use both the combo speaker (8 ohms) and an 8 ohm extension cab? I might be able to pick up a mini rec cab for cheap, but I'll have to...

Noobie (for a long time) question about DC 5

Hello all. Sorry if this is too basic a question. How can you possibly practice with this amp? It is so loud! It goes from off, to muffled, empty sounding at .5 to ear bleeding at 1 to head exploding at 1.5 on the master volume. I finnaly got a chance to play it outside on the fourth. I got the...

    DC-5 Love at first strum

So I just got my DC-5. What a great amp. I'm not an expert or a writer, but I just love this amp. And what a deal? I think the DC has got to be one of the most underrated, overlooked amps around. For an amature I just don't think you can do any better for twice the cash. I feel so comfortable...

    Estate Sale- Mesa content

My amp arrived in perfect condition. Ken is a great guy to deal with and his buddy took great care of his equipment. I have never seen anything packed so well or so carefully in my life. there were a few little dings in the outer box as to be expected, but it would take a full out spear for...
