Engaging Royal Atlantic reverb lower volume slightly?

I just picked up a used RA and am loving it so far! The master volume and soak make this amp so much more usable (to me) than the Electra Dyne. It took me a while to balance the highs in the blue and red channels and think I have it now. When I started playing with the reverb, engaging the...

Did you sell your Royal Atlantic? Why?

Well I took the plunge without being able to play the amp first. It arrived yesterday (head version) and I got to spend a few hours with it last night. So far so good – I really like it. Already I wondering if I’m using the right speakers though. I’m using a 2*12 cab with a WGS Vet 30 and an...

Did you sell your Royal Atlantic? Why?

Thanks for the replies. Those seem like things I can live with - I think.

Did you sell your Royal Atlantic? Why?

I'm seriously considering this amp and have read many reviews. I think I've got all of the positive aspects down but I'd like some input on what led to some selling this amp. What should I be aware of? For example I loved my ED but had no idea how hard it was to get a good tone at a manageable...

NAD! My Mesa Royal Atlantic Combo

Thanks for posting the clips BRS. When you have a chance please let us know how the amp sounds at lower volumes through the combo speakers. I'm curious as to how well the power soak works and changes the tone if any. Are you going to return it?

NAD! My Mesa Royal Atlantic Combo

The rattling you're hearing and the weak reverb could be seperate issues. I had an ED combo that had a rattle and it turned out to be a power tube. If UPS dropped the box then I suspect that is your problem. As for the weak reverb I suspect the reverb tube. I don't think the reverb on any amp...

    Royal Atlantic has docked

I think EQ-ing each to where it sounds the best is the way to go. As well as a hearing how they sound cranked I would especially like to hear a comparison of how they sound at "the kids are asleep and I finally got some time to practice quietly" levels. Master Volume usability is important -...

    Royal Atlantic has docked

Congrats on the new amp. I'm sure you'll be getting lots of play time in today. Please let us know more of your thoughts when you've had a chance to play it more.

Well thank you both for taking the plunge. I think there are many of us very interested in the amp but waiting to hear more reviews first!

Thanks for the reviews so far Red Sox. I too hope to check out the RA soon.

    Royal Atlantic ETA?

I do have GAS bad for this one. If I buy an RA I have to sell another to fund the purchase. The similar (channel switching rock amps) I own are the ED and a Carol Ann Tucana 2. Don't really want to part with either but the RA looks pretty good.

Reverb on 5:25 1x12 stopped working - any suggestions?

Yeah - they're going to let me swap the tank out. I wish they would send me a new one first. It's such a hassle to box something up and send it back especially when does tanks don't cost very much to begin with. Hopefully the problem is just the tank. I'd hate to next have to box up the amp...

Reverb on 5:25 1x12 stopped working - any suggestions?

Thanks Don. Looks like it is my reverb tank too. I'd never heard of one going bad before. By the time I ship back to Mesa and get the return a couple of weeks will have passed but I'll post again when I know for sure what the problem was.
