    Preamp/Power tube ?

Thanks for the message. Yes I could tell it was coming from one of the "outside" power tubes. Really mechanically noisy. I went back to the dealer , they installed a new Pair of outside tubes and it was fine. Later that night the two middle ones started doing the same thing. Along with some...

    Preamp/Power tube ?

Glad to be a new MarkV owner and glad to be back using Mesa . I am really happy with this amp. I have had it five days and know I have barely touched it's abilities. So far so good but I do have a question as I am concerned about an " issue " , please keep in mind my dealer is two hours each...

    5Y3 rectifier tubes

I understand fast start up time is not the issue. Use the 5v4 and it takes more voltage, if something goes wrong most slip the 5y3 back in and warranty it. Does'nt Mesa a fix for this by now ? /cheers

    Poor Gibson

GiantstepJ, Sorry to hear you have had a very close experience to mine. I also had to preorder my guitar. I had only 48 hours to return the instrument , which imHo is not much time. Soon I started to discover problems that were overlooked as the instrument seemed perfect. I was stuck with...

    5Y3 rectifier tubes

Totally agree Stokes. I took the 5y3 out of my '63 ampeg jet and I now use a 5v4 as it is not directly heated and takes thirty seconds longer before my power tubes get hit with the full voltage. For the little bit more in voltage it does not rise as fast and far as the 5y3 did. It takes its...

    Best greenbacks for Roadking II

Here are the spec's for the speakers. The last list of spec's is for the 70th anniversery G12H these have the black sticker with a 75hz cone and are made in China, if that is good or bad that is up to you, do not confuse those with the U.K made Herritage G12H as these are made with the 55hz...

    Best greenbacks for Roadking II

Going back before I switched heads, I was using a Roadking V1 and: I put a quad of the Celestion G12H-30s, not the one with the black sticker but the (H) for heavy-large magnet greenback version. The cone has a 55hz res. over the 75hz res. of the others. These speakers are really efficient. I...

    Nice bias tools

Mongo, What did you decide? If you did purchase the dual bias tester how did you like it. I have had the 8 and 9 pin versions for about three years now, perhaps longer and I have only had to replace a bannana connector on one lead, the pins of one came undone. Less than one minute to screw...

    Sorry, but more gibson insight

I do thank you Mavguy, I had contacted Heritage Guitars and they are going to repair my Gibson Alex Lifeson ES-355 for me. I have taken a look at some of their instruments and they sure do seem like a consideration over Gibson. I will be sending my guitar soon at which point they will look...

    NOS Tubes

If you want to try some great EL34s, these are tested and spec'd from mesa, the price might seem high, yet the lowest I see them on ebay is $99.00, and who knows what the rating is, nor if they are even reliable. If you were to score a whole case of these tubes, at best half of them are weak...

    Nice bias tools

Mongo it's all good. The best part with this item is you can spend the rest of your money on a good meter, a Fluke for example, and you have a good meter you can check other electronics with. The ones with built in meters sure sound like a great idea, but who makes the meters?, if the meter...

    Tung-Sol reissue 12AX7

I totally agree with you. When I sent my road king in for a work up at mesa they retubed it with tubes that passed their quality and durability screening. My road king over all sounds great, it has now been retired as I found an amp that serves me better. On my chart the r2 is the LPS, the r3...

    Tung-Sol reissue 12AX7

With the respect the board gives you and I have read your work, it is impressive, with that in mind let me share some facts: I remember when sovtek had a "quality" el34, yes the one mesa used to use. Yet, that is no longer considered a quality tube. Mike Mathews has been beat by manufacturers...
