    .22 Caliber Extension Cabinet Suggestions?

You’ll need another 8 ohms speaker so you can connect both the internal and external speakers to the 4 ohms jacks. I wouldn’t mix 8 and 4 ohms speakers. The .22 has the same size cab as the early Mk’s, right? Mesa extension cabs are plentiful used, usually with an 8 ohms speaker, look on Reverb...

    Mesa Boogie .22 Caliber

All the Boogies I've had have a small woodblock between the OT and the choke.

    Boogie MkIIA FX loop question

You mean there is signal passing even with all the knobs at zero? Mine works great, and the fact that real knobs are in front of the unit means I can use it with different amps requiring different FX in/out levels than the MkIIA. The C-Lator also works great on a Single Rectifier Solo 50, it...

    Mark I Reissue Overdrive Harsh

IME those amps sound best with the power section cooking around 4 or 5, I would suggest a HotPlate or other high quality attenuator.

    Boogie MkIIA FX loop question

True, but MkIIA owners know that I am talking about the Preamp Out under the chassis and Power Amp In on the back.

    Boogie MkIIA FX loop question

Thank you, in fact I just ordered a C-Lator kit. I was wondering if rack units with selectable & separate output and input impedances work.

    Boogie MkIIA FX loop question

Nobody? With a Korg SDD-1000 in the loop, the send sends too much juice and the return is too weak. Noise level is great though… Anybody tried the G-Lab Amp Loop Adapter ALA-1, or a C-Lator?

    Boogie MkIIA FX loop question

Mine is a '80 and the FX loop with pedals sounds OK but robs a lot of volume, probably an impedance mismatch. What is your experience with rack mounted delays/FX's that have a much more flexible impedance for input and output? Gratuitous pic of the amp re-housed in a head cab:

    what is this SOB??

Can't really help the OP about the extra tube, all I can see is that the amp has been worked on with a couple of changed caps, and oddly some (but not all!) replaced electrolytics. If you have other 100w SOB's as models it should be easy to revert that head to stock, those are fairly rare...

    What's your fave speaker?

I've since tried a few other speakers I really like with my SOB and 100w MkIIa, the Celestion G12K-100 is excellent and sounds relatively neutral, but with that Celestion midrange bite, the old G12H-100 is great and sounds smoother than the G12k-100, with less upper midrange but still great...

    '80 Mark IIA

Thanks, but to blow a 75w speaker you have to play much louder than I do here… No problem with the wattage, I use it as a clean platform in any case. From what I've read on this forum IIA owners have had the same experience with the gain channel on that amp. Was your modded or made to order a...

    '80 Mark IIA

I just got that one, pretty clean, 100w version with reverb, swapped the original EVM 12L for an Eminence CV-75 and yanked the modern tubes for some NOS ones. Original electrolytics, they look fine and the amp is quiet, I may change them down the line though. The clean channel sounds absolutely...

    What's your fave speaker?

Ha, thank you! I’d be happy to build a guitar for you. After playing Fenders & Marshalls almost exclusively, I’m expanding a bit and got curious about older Mesa’s.

    What's your fave speaker?

So I've put an Eminence CV-75 in my MkIII and it's a great sounding speaker in that amp! Similar to the V30, but more detailed, with a bit more top end and a slightly tighter bass response, which makes the midrange a hair less aggressive, but it stills cuts through. Still curious about the...

    What's your fave speaker?

Do you know if The Fillmore is just a rebranded CV-75, or if it's a slightly different design?
