    Still looking for ED alternative

I bought the Rocker 15. For 30 lbs is as close as I figure possible to the ED blue channel. I keep the bass cranked all the way up and mid & treb around 11 o'clock. Gain around 11 o'clock and it's pretty close to the ED blue channel. Not as much air moving and less low push but it's got the same...

    Still looking for ED alternative

Think I might check out the just-released Orange Rocker 15. While I like the sound of big-bottle amps, I have my ED for that. I need something portable and quieter, and the Rocker 15 looks like a great bedroom to practice amp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_1N0gwJm_Y Other amps I'm still...

    Still looking for ED alternative

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm also thinking about a TA-30 combo. Still a big amp, but I think about 20lbs lighter. Anybody compare the light crunch tones on a TA30 to an Electra Dyne? My perception is it's got a bit of that upper-mid el84 emphasis, but is still reasonably fat on the right...

    Still looking for ED alternative

I love my 1x12 wide body Electra Dyne and don't think I'll ever let it go. I use it on the Blue channel on a medium crunch (vol about 11 o'clock) almost exclusively. I love the fat Mesa take on the British sound. However, I need an amp to haul around for rehearsals and such and the ED is just...

    Help Identifying Amp

Thanks for all the help guys. I am revisiting this post because the owner of the amp, who I posted on behalf of, has now decided to sell the amp. Any clue on the value of this amp? ps. If discussing the value is against the board rules, etc, then please disregard & my apologies.

    Electra Dyne Officially Discontinued...

I knew it would happen, based on how little you see & hear of them. It's a shame. It's hands down my favorite Mesa product. Isn't Fender Clean with Marshall Drive in one amp what every guitar player ever wanted? Maybe I'll be able to catch one on blowout at GC or something. Being discontinued...

    Problems I see.....

I admit, I'd like a solo boost on the amp, like the LoneStar I had for a while had. But coming from a JMP, this thing is packed with features. I have a delay in the loop anyway, so I just use a Keeley Rat in mighty mouse mode for boost and it's killer. All the cables running back & forth to the...

    Help Identifying Amp

Do you guys know who made the speakers in these? That looks like an original, right? Sorry, I don't know much about the Mark series. I'm an Electra Dyne guy now & used to own a LoneStar.

    Help Identifying Amp

My friend inherited this amp from his dad. Can you help me identify the model and what it might be worth?

    cabinet question

I get it about the size. I have a 27" 1x12 combo and I don't need any more. It's plenty loud... and plenty heavy, but at least it's just 1 thing and it has stout wheels. Beats my Marshall halfstack in just about every category, and seems every bit as loud.

    cabinet question

I don't think it would make enough difference in volume to warrant having 2 cabinets. All other things being equal, halving your speaker surface area will decrease perceived volume by 3db. Couldn't you just wire your 2x12 cabinet with a dual jack that allowed you to plug into one speaker or both...

    Attenuators and EDs

You could put EL34s in your ED, which would give you a less deep bottom end. Also, by running in 45 watt mode, you only have the Class A(ish) side of the Simul-Class power amp engaged. The 90 watt mode engages the 2 outside tubes, which are biased more like a class AB Marshall. I doubt an...

    Attenuators and EDs

I run mine at just over 9:00 on the master on 90 watts. It's loud, but it's golden. I like it a ton, but I bought it because my Marshall was too bright. It's the perfect dark marshall sound for me. Never had a problem cutting through the mix. Turn it up. Also, try turning the bass down below...

    Electra Dyne with Big Muff

I ended up putting the Big Muff in the effects loop. It likes it way better there. The front end of the amp just didn't like the wooly-ness of the Big Muff (actually it's a Wren & Cuff Box of War, "Civil War" era Big Muff clone--killer pedal).

    Electra Dyne with Big Muff

My Electra Dyne doesn't sound too great with a Big Muff out in front of the clean channel. My 27" Dyne 1x12 Combo is already pretty bassy, which I love on its own, but when I want that Big Muff fuzz tone it's just too muddy. Anybody found a setting that works better than others on pedal or amp?
