I have heard the term used to describe the IIc+ as Liquid tone - but what does that mean - what is liquid about a IIc+ compared to say a III blue stripe or Mark V in IIc+ mode as I have both them amps and I would not use a term to say how it sounds as liquid ?

Hey - I'm not really a fan of either them 2 amps - they can be pretty cheap on the used market as they were not to successful but for me I would recommend a Mark V 25 - you should be able to pick a used one up for reasonable money 2nd hand and they just absolutely rock - they are plenty loud...
Hey mate
I think they are one of the best amps available - I also would love to have the clean & crunch modes available on a foot switch but I don't think it can be done, maybe it could be modded though ? - for my crunch sound I run my MkV 25 in extreme mode but I back the gain down and push...
John Mayer would be one of my all time favourite guitarist on the planet however I can only tolerate some of his songs - ie - I reckon I would have listened to Live at the Nokia 2007 album over & over & over again countless times, even on Blu-ray I would watch it - it is faultless, absolute...
This is just me but if I were to be buying a Mark IIC+ and the amp I was buying was not an original IIC+ then I wouldn't want to pay top dollar for it regardless who done the mods.

Hi Will
Get the Mk V25, you will love it mate - its great at low volume with a single 12in V30 speaker - I prefer the 25w mode at low volume but you can flick to 10w and you just lose a little bottom end - sure its better with a 4x12 recto cab cranked up (which is what I use most of the time)...
You will be OK to hook it up through the fx loop and 4 cable method however the dual/triple have a parallel FX loop - so you will get an odd sounding delay tone etc when you hook the multi fx unit in the loop (this is due to how they send the signal from the multi fx unit) - so unless you modify...
hey
I had similar noises from my Mark III
The screen grid resistors were one problem (well a few problems) they were replaced them - and then replaced again..
I also found that after the tech had done some work it always use to crackle & pop on start up for a while before it would come good...
That's a ripper - you cant complain about that, I also had a similar deal on a blue stripe only I have now repaired mine 3 times and still its not 100% but gezz it still sounds good.

Did you end up buying it - I was going too I just couldn't get the funding from the Mrs - Its a cool amp for sure - US voltage was a pain but still for what he was asking for it was a bargin anyway
