The best substitutes of MESA STR-415 & 416

The matching of some online retailers are not at the plate or bias voltage of the Mark series Boogies, so they might not match when installed in your amp. I have seen this on more than one occasion, so buyer beware !

The best substitutes of MESA STR-415 & 416

Save your money, beat the bushes and wait for some good used Sylvanias to come up for sale. You will be glad at the peace of mind when it comes to using your amp with the tubes it was designed around. A good used Sylvania is just as reliable as ANY new production tube, if not a bunch more. Just...

Look at 'em there, pretty maids all in a row.

I have all Sylvania power tubes in my C+ Boogies. The ONLY way to go in my opinion. I have a box in the top of my closet that I have expressed to my family to NOT sell in a yard sale after my death. The 416's were much harder to come by, for sure. I bought one pair on Ebay that were listed as...

IS the Mark IV always simul class?

The Pentode/Triode switch affects the outer pair of tubes in Simulclass mode. Not sure how it works when the amp is switched to Class-A mode (outer tubes only).

    Mark IIC+ vs Mark V C+ Mode

Was it a 60W or a 60/100 set to 60W mode? Both of which are Pentode. If you like the "Pull Deep" use it on the C+. The only "triode" in the C+ is in the outer sockets of the Simulclass models, BTW.

    MKIIc+ Tubes

MESA branded Sylvania STR-416's are the way to go. Yes they are expensive and hard to find, but WELL worth it. Nothing compares in my opinion. I have a pair of Phillips 7581A's that do the job nicely, as well.

Anyone Know If A Boogie Mark I Chassis Would Fit an SOB Cab

It should fit. The original Mark I and IIA, along with some of the early IIB's had a wider bolt spacing on the chassis. Anything with the SUS4 mounting and beyond should be the same.

Which Mark series transformers are running ~500+ PV?

Touch your DVM to pin#3 on the PCB trace on the tube socket, and see what you get. That will tell the real story.

Which Mark series transformers are running ~500+ PV?

I do not know why your 105 PT is reading that much voltage. Are you measuring it at pin #3 with the tubes out of the sockets? It should be around 485v. The Coliseums will push around 530V if I remember correctly.

Help! Mk. III off moth balls -- suuuper weird noise...

I have heard of the FX return jack contacts going bad if something is left plugged in for long periods of time. If running a short jumper cable from the FX Send to the FX return fixes the noise, then I would highly suspect that this is your problem.

    MARK II HELP!

Use the Post FX Level knob as the overall volume knob, and set the front panel Master at 4 or higher. Equal the channel volumes with the Lead Master front panel knob.

    MKIIC+ Export

It is possible that the amp could have the X101 Power transfomer hard wired to the 120V taps, and have no voltage selector switch. I think that I saw one for sale on Ebay done this way.
