Mesa Roadster Tone - Morbid Sky (audiofile inside)

hi folks, just wanna share a tune of my band called Morbid Sky with you. the song is also called Morbid Sky, as the band is. we just moved into our new studio-rooms and after everything was setup, we did a quick live-rehearsal-one-take-no overdub-recording. on the right side you hear a Music...

Unwanted phase sound on effects loop: Roadster Ch. 4 Modern

that´s it! like dom said. i´ve read so often questions like yours in the first posting and every time the problem is, these amps are played at low-level....you get that phase-shift even with a marshall amp played at bedroom level....and with many other amps as well. take this beast and bring...

Roadster - can it get smooth gain tones?

the same here, never felt in love with the brit mode but got those nice ac/dc crunch tone with tweed mode gain set high. since this day, my yellow channel set to fat-mode is my clean sound. orange set to vintage mode with tube-tracking for good rock sounds and red channel modern on diode for...

    Is The Roadster For Me?

the roadster is still (after 7 years of using it) my main amp and i did try a lot of different amps during those years. rectifier-series amps are not famous for having a great solo-sound, and the roadster is a rectifier-series amp....but you can get a great solo tone while using an overdrive...

    To mod or not...

there is still a tiny little bleeding left after the mod, but i can only hear it with the mastervolume turned way down to bedroom level. in the normal playing situation, it doesn´t matter. i´ve done the loop mods to all of my mesa amps with parallel loops, it´s just easy to do and very effective.

    Post your rig part 2

LOL, they really sound different. the Rectoverb is by far the most aggressive amp of them all, the roadster is a well balanced 4 channel monster for a lot of different styles of music and the DC-5 is more of a classic rock-amp compared to the other. totally different kind of distortion, more...

    Couple of Roadster Questions

and to give you another option, try the roadster with a set of EL34s in the poweramp. the sound with 6L6s is good, but for my taste the EL34s give that amp a nice mid-crunch and different voicing in low- and top-end, which i really prefer. for solos i always boost my amp with a mxr zw-44...

    Couple of Roadster Questions

the roadster is a darker sounding amp compared to the dual rectos...if you want that reborn sound, you´ll have to go for a reborn. so you get both problems solved at once - smaller footswitch and the sound you want. ;) try to turn up the presence control of the amp and you´ll have to set the...

    Post your rig part 2

changed amps within my rigs last week and therefore i got the chance to make a "stacked" picture of the gear. DC-5, Rectoverb II, Roadster, Recto 4x12" straight/slanted

Whats the difference between the Road King I and Series II?

afaik, the differences between RKI and RKII is: mesa improved the two clean-channels on the II and the loop-section is different - RKI had two parallel loops, RKII has two serial loops tried a RKII combo once (set to 4x6L6) in the orange and red channel and to me, this thing sounded the same as...

    Effects loop quandry

just do the simple fx-serial-loop-mod. it works fine on my rectoverb II, never could get a good delay / dry sound with the parallel loop as well. unscrew the chassis, turn it upside down, remove the right wire of the mix-pot and solder the left-wire to the center of the mix-pot. reinstall the...
