My first thoughts are that you are cranking the crap out of the amp. If you are truthful that you are not blasting the amp, it may be that the amp is doing something to the speaker. You may want to have the amp checked out. Also make sure you have the speaker plugged into the correct ohm jack...

No, Everything was done at Mesa Boogie. The cabs were done in the 80's and came with EVM 12L speakers.

I use an AC+ plus pedal by Xotics. This pedal adds sustain without adding any nasties.

I am using my MK V and a MKIIC+ in the basement of my house. I am running them in stereo and having a great time. I know it is overkill, but having the big sound is so great.

I paid the price from Mesa and it is overpriced, but it looks right with black piping as well. I had this done over a year and a half ago, the sting of the price has worn off.
