I've always used String Swings with good results. I agree with only mounting into studs or onto a long board as in the images above.

I think the Axe-FX is a great tool, but it's not for everybody. I can only talk about it's use in a FRFR setup since I've never run it with a power amp and cab. It sounds great through my monitors and I'm able to get great results while recording. I think some people may get turned off...
