New (EL34) tubes = Louder and reverb /less affect in tweed?

Thanks Dom: It's true that no Fender Tweed amp/circuit had reverb: first amp was the Vibroverb (circa 63-64). Every detail to the MKV's mini-toggles & switches seemed to be covered in the manual except what the CH1-Tweed setting did (or did nothing to) the reverb. That's the answer so to speak...

    First gig with Mark V!

You're not odd man out at all. Except for a slight tweak between guitars with singles or buckers: pushing more air & the wonderful synergy of tubes/speakers being leaned on is sometimes all it takes.

Awesome day with the Mark V & I learned something

You nailed it to a "T".

New (EL34) tubes = Louder and reverb /less affect in tweed?

There has to be an answer or others who've encountered this reverb issue with MKV Ch-1 Tweed reverb absence. No mention of it from what I can see in the manual.

    How quiet is your MkV???

Same here: w/o the fan it's noiseless (virtually).

    New Mark V owner Questions

Brownie nailed it: remember that with active circuitry you're are "slamming the front end" of the amp's input (affecting the signal and everything that ensues). If the active circuit has a trim pot that you can adjust to get some variance & balance, adjust it. A few well-known guitarists use...

    First gig with Mark V!

Some things that impact MKV tone (bedroom to studio to rehearsal to live situations)... 1. 6L6 switch to EL-34's or variations (KT-77, etc.) 2. Type of cabinet, speakers, open to tuned/ported to closed back cab... 3. Speakers being used in the cab(s) 4. Guitar(s) being used, single coils to...

New (EL34) tubes = Louder and reverb /less affect in tweed?

My MKV Channel I Tweed makes reverb non-existent as well...and I'm about to compare JJ's versus Mullard 34's as well.

3 year, first thing I hate about this amp

Help me hook up my rig!

Looks good... Slamming the front end with wahs and any distortion pedals (althought the MV can rip with either 6L6's or EL-84's), and putting modulation followed by any verb/delay (although the MV's reverb is tasty) in the loop should sound pretty good. Just possibly try to keep all cable...

    Basically: 6L6's or 34's & brand.....

Best Tube Sets for the Mark V?

Just started a poll...and just dropped some Mullard EL34's in my MV with good results. But the real taste test will be when I test various NOS stuff I have in storage.

MV Owners: What's Your Power Tube Preferences?

I'm using the Boogie 6L6's, but just ran some Mullard EL-34's in it and liked them as well. What are you using at the moment?
