I think the best out there for the price, sound, and transparency is the xotic SP compressor. I'm not sure about use with high output pickups. You should at least try one.

If you haven't tried, there is an interesting thing with the loop on those. You can put a volume pedal in the loop and use it to vary the amount of gain in the Lead channel. This will not work if it has been modified (to more of the Mark IIC+ spec), which I would not recommend you do, unless of...

I think that a Tweed Bassman with a few carefully selected pedals could be a fine "one amp that does it all". Not trying to take anything away from the IIC+, of course.

Gonzo, because I read that it has a 3 level attenuator. But, I guess that is for the XLR line level now that I read it again.
