Having a hard time bonding with my new Express 5:25+ combo

Until I got my Express 5:25 out of the bedroom, I couldn't find much love for it. I really don't think in retrospec there is any bedroom aspect to the amp. It likes to be on. There was no *** to mine either in the bedroom on low volume. Changing from bedroom volume to playing outside volume...

Mesa Express 5:25 Loss of Power and Definition

My amp is working well. Tube quality is questionable. I do really use this amp a lot for a jammer and can almost always play it with the master volume up pretty good. So I guess I will go through tubes as I have. I just don't use 5 watt mode anymore as it just uses up the tubes too fast IMO...

Mesa Boogie 2x12 Vertical Slant Half Back

Thanks for the reply, cho. It sounds amazing with my Express 5:25 plugged in. Amazing bottom end and just plain loud! I am running it as the only speaker plugged into the 4 ohm inputs. If I add the built in v30 it will only be 2 ohms.

Mesa Boogie 2x12 Vertical Slant Half Back

I am not sure what this is, but a little reading tells me maybe 1980's possibly, so I am hoping for some help. It's a 2x12 vertical Slant Half Back. On top where the slant is there is a Black Shadow MC-90 by Celestion at 8 ohms and 90 watts. On the bottom in the closed section is a Black Shadow...

Mesa Express 5:25 Loss of Power and Definition

One OT glows more then the other in 5 watt mode. And I have been trying 5 watt mode and even going with the the 8 ohm speaker in the 4 ohm slot. Playing a lot too. So maybe it was time since it came back solid.

Mesa Express 5:25 Loss of Power and Definition

Put in my last set of Mesa EL84 Red and she is jangling and loud. I think it's time for the cooling fan again. I had stopped using it in the winter and at venues where it is a comfortable temperature even on stage. But Sunday is the real workout day for the amp and it was hot. Looking back we...

Mesa Express 5:25 Loss of Power and Definition

Well, she fell on her face during a show again yesterday. All was good, switch to do a solo and nothing. Reached back for some master volume and nothing. I turned it all the way up and got low volume. Usually it will start squealing before 3 oclock. There was no sustain. It's been several...

    5:25 to PA, how?

Just pushing the conversation a little. All the options are good. We all have different expectations.

    5:25 to PA, how?

Compliments. I live for those! LOL I use a mic and get them too. But I like the way I sound standing in front of my amp and the pa. Your turn.

    5:25 to PA, how?

Google it for opinions. Last I did they all said tone suck. But everyone buys a tube amp with different expectations.

    5:25 to PA, how?

    Help w/ in-ceiling speaker wiring

I used to install mall type in the ceiling PA systems. It's a high voltage wire that delivers the sound and each speaker taps into it with a wattage rating. They don't vibrate much at all and they are pretty darn loud even tapped as low as one and two watts. With my Mesa 1x12 at jam level I can...

    Help w/ in-ceiling speaker wiring

I think you would ruin your home IMHO. You are essentially making your ceiling a 4x12 cab. The vibration would be "epic dude". Is that opinion too cautious?

Can we talk 12" speakers for the 5:25?

I used a Celestion G12-65 speaker once. The G12-65 does not bark like the Vintage 30. It's a bit more 80's rock and roll as advertised. I like it, it's very usable. The speaker was out of my buddies Marshall 2x12 combo.
