Rectoverb 25 combo owners. Transformer getting hot ?

Thanks for the advice. Actually I have a Laney LC15R which I now realise gets just as hot after it's been switched on for an hour, so I guess this is all normal. Thanks again.

Rectoverb 25 combo owners. Transformer getting hot ?

I just picked up a used Rectoverb 25 Combo today. It's just 6 months old. After about an hour of playing time I decided to have a look at the rear of the amp, just being curious really. Everything looks ok except I noticed the mains transformer was quite hot to touch. You can hold the steel core...

    Cab report

Yes, the "flower" pattern does look a bit strange. Originally my idea for the cab was to have the baffle exposed (no grill cloth, as you see it now) with two round holes for the speakers. However as I only have hand tools I knew it was going to be tricky cutting out a perfect circle. So I...

    Cab report

Absolutely my friend. I run mine through a home made closed back cab with two G12H's. The Hotplate keeps the neigbours happy. Sounds superb in comparison to the single V30 in the combo. More speakers and bigger cabs always produce the goods. :D

Hi and Express 5:50/MK 5 thoughts

Hi there Boogiepete, nice work with "Latitude", I like it. Your a hell of a guitarist, I bet that LP will sound great through your 5:50. Welcome.

Getting Crunch mode sounds on burn channel

Read your post and thought "hey, thats sounds similar to how I have mine set up". May not be to your liking, but I like it. By the way my set up is an 2008 American Standard Strat straight into the amp, no effects in front. Delay etc. in the loop. I use the 25watt position too, it sounds less...

    New guy; hi!

Hi there Andrew. You got yourself a nice amp there. Something I'm sure you already know. :D Probably the perfect thing for your set list. Bet it sounds great. There's a lot of knowledge on the board. I spend many an hour here. All the best.

    Cash in hand....

The weight of the 1x10 Express 5:25 according to a music industry review on the Mesa website is 17.8kg. I have a 5:25 1x12 myself and I carry it up and down stairs all the time. I would not want to do the same with a 5:50. They weigh considerably more and the physical dimensions (they are a...

    16 OHM speaker with the 5:25 ? ? ?

I'd like to clarify something if possible regarding using a 16 ohm rated speaker with the 5:25 Express. OK, on page 19 of the owners manual it states under the heading "Mis-matching", "When running a higher resistance (for example: 8 ohm output into a 16 ohm cabinet", a slightly different feel...

Problem with 5:25, extra noise/artifact after notes.

Just thought I would give you something to check. Had a similar problem myself. The following is from a previous post. " if I play certain notes or chords (open G, D, C etc) I get a high pitched ringing which is mixed in with the played notes. " Had a very similar issue myself. I traced my...

    So I just swapped my 1x10 5:25 for an 1x12 5:25

Yep, they are sweet. Had mine 8 months now. Was in a music shop at the weekend (haven't been in one for about 3 months) and I tried a couple of expensive amps, they were nice but the experience just confirmed that no way would I trade my 5:25 at the moment. :D

    5:25 owner,thinking 5:50

The amps have different speakers too. There's a Black Shadow in the 5:50. The 5:25 has a Vintage 30. As for amp hum, it's only noticeable on channel 2 with mine. The clean, crunch channel is quite as a mouse at max volume.

    5:25 owner,thinking 5:50

If your curious about a 5:50 and it's only going to cost $70, why not get it? I don't see the issue, unless I'm missing something. After 4 months with a 5:25 1x12, I did consider a move up to a 5:50. The only reason really is because I figured the 5:25 to be the baby of the range and thought I...
