MKIII Blue Stripe - Tech Help neded

Lmao you must be referring to Aussie Brad! Man, thats a deep philosophical question for certain— and no two dudes agree. In my opinion, discreet components make more of a difference in single channel amps or on clean channels, where there aren’t tons of snubber caps lopping off high end from...

MKIII Blue Stripe - Tech Help neded

Alrighty. You can get quality polypropylene caps that are significantly smaller and sound fabulous in critical positions. I was a huge skeptic until I repaired a fender clone that was built with them. Amazing tone and led me to believe that cc plate resistors, paper interleaved output...

Lol leaky! Darn speech to text converted it to creamy lol. I’ll make some additional comments after I get these toddlers fed and put to bed!

MKIII Blue Stripe - Tech Help neded

Hey I was mistaken when measuring Initially. I measured the grid directly the second time and saw voltage rising as the volume was wound up. This rise accompanied a decrease then swell in the level of noise. Eventually passing no signal about halfway up. After lifting the leg of the .1, I...

MKIII Blue Stripe - Tech Help neded

Hi, all. Working on a customer's MKIII. Scratchy volume pot is making mew nuts. - Electrolytics test good - Voltage at sockets measures good - Replaced PI coupling caps - Replaced C505/506 - No DC on pots - Subbed in new volume pot - no change - FX jacks clean - All tubes test good Any tips...

    Dc-5 in the shop

Hey if you mean the tube retainer thing, the amp should run fine without. I meant both channels. I found the lead channel to be more aggressive in the dc (and easier to dial in).

The closest I’ve found was the mkiv but it’s not dead on. 6 mo is way too long.

DC-3: lowering plate voltage and bullet proofing

Long time! Probably been a decade since I’ve owned a boogie. Had a MKIV rack, stiletto deuce 2, dc10, dc-3, and maybe more lol. I left bc of constant reliability issues on stage. I couldn’t resist a great deal on this minty dc-3 combo and am back in the fold. I plan on bringing the amp up to...

Tried to balance shred and emotion through a JP-2C

That was enjoyable! Like to hear a little more mids in the lead tone, but that's my damaged ear for ya.

Single Coil Bridge Rock Tones? Yes.

Hey, many thanks. That’s my own amp (blackface and plexi inspired with PPIMV and other goodies) set to a little power tube breakup then pushed a bit with a Maxon OD808 and a Barber comp. Pardon for any confusion. The Stiletto opened the Marshall door and refuse to close it!
