    MESA F-100H .. new user!

Be aware that the F serie amps are quite loud beasts due to the fact that the lead channel doesn't sound that good at bedroom level, it has to be cranked a bit. So at home or at rehearshal when in a small room and at moderate level (unless you practive with the band at unsane volume) the lead...

making the f50 sound more vintage

I understand. Then I'd say a good transparent overdrive on the clean channel. I use a G2D CreamTone as low gain and an OCD. I have a G2D Custom overdrive as well wich shines in very low gain, just a hair, and you get great singing, mid focussed lead tone for free!.. Ahem! it's not exactly free...

making the f50 sound more vintage

Sell it, maybe? Seriously, the F50 was not designed to be a reproduction of a vintage amp. Though the clean channel is in the Mark vein the lead is definitely modern, post '80s that is. So if by vintage you mean '60s/'70s, the tip 'sell it' is not that silly, you've got the wrong amp...

    F-50 clean channel volume/noise problem

Very true! by gig-volume I meant 'not bedroom volume', so at the volume used to play with a drummer either at practice or on stage. It usually doesn't make much of a difference unless you play outdoor.

    F-50 clean channel volume/noise problem

As I said earlier, if your master settings needed to balance both channels are about 12:00 on the clean and 9:30 or 10:00 on the lead and that by then you're blasting at gig volume, your amp is working perfectly. It all has to do with the difference of reactivity/taping of the master pots...

    Just Bought F50

I'd like to add that the F50 is not my main amp anymore. I now use a Ceriatone OTS 50 (Dumble style amp) for gigs. I still use the F50 though at practice for portablity (the 1x12 combo F50 is easier to grab and setup than the head and 2x12 with Rocktron Xpressioncarry, especially when the F50...

    Just Bought F50

Glad I could help. Thanks for the kind word on our demo! It's the F50 you hear on these. Crunch rhythm is a Fulldrive but solos are on the lead channel and quite creamy (but not so bluesy!) Experimenting is still the way to go to find your tone because it's your ears listening. And isn't it...

    Mesa F-30 footswitch issue....

A bit late and maybe too obvious but is the mini toggle switch on the amp front pannel on the lead/footswitch position?

    Just Bought F50

Hi Brian, F50s are pretty reliable and solid builds. I move mine already 2 1/2 years almost weekly between home and practice location so it gets offently gently banged around, it ran a couple of time on mismatched ohmage, never had a problem. Now the lead channel is not exactly a blues...

    F-50 clean channel volume/noise problem

If the problem persists after full retube it would look like another component of the amp is failing. Even after swapping tubes around the chance that you systematically put a failing tube in the same position is nihil. You could have a burned resistor or cap around V2 affecting the clean...

    F-50 clean channel volume/noise problem

It is true that the F50 lead channel is blasting quite early on the master pot, this combined to a steep jump in volume at the start of the run makes it quite difficult to play lead at low volume. The clean channel has a smother MV taping so there will always be a difference between clean and...

    Attenuator for F50 combo

This amp booster box thingie will NOT, I repeat NOT make your output tubes cooking at low volume since the effect loop sits always BEFORE the power section of an amp. It's only advantage on the F50 is that it gives you a general master volume affecting both the clean and OD channel, something I...

What speaker cab for F 50?

If you liked the C90 you should go for it. I still think it's really part of the Boogie tone, the 'Boogie bark'. I've had a CL80 in an extension cab (I've got a 1x12 combo F50) for a while and though it has the bark to it does sound different than the C90 but unlike Hobo, I didn't find it an...

    F-100 Blues Sound

I'm not sure to understand what you mean by 'Channel 2 poo' but I'm quite happy with my channel 2 on my F50 and I never use the contour. With the gain at about 11:00 the tone cleans up quite nicely when turning down the guitar volume (Suhr strat) though you still have to pick lightly to keep it...

    F-100 Blues Sound

As I said watch your bass setting. With the gain set high, the bass increases considerably in the tone so you must lower the bass on the EQ. The gain between 11:00 and 2:00 changes the tone dramatically from spanky to fat. Blues Deluxe is Fender clean and warm but if it's really a blues tone I...
