Well... to be honest... I don't mean to be rude but I don't give a rat's a$$ about theorical stuff. I just go with what I hear, and if there's an audible improvement, then it's all good. I've done several A/B tests with the the standard AWG 18 cables and the thicker AWG 14 cable and it always...
Yes, I have played it a couple of times; one of my buddies has one and it's a nice guitar. The neck is comfortable, not as much as an Ibanez, but good. The guitar is very light, though, it feels weird; and the mate finish rubs off quickly.
True. The sound of Single Rectos can be improved vastly with some minor tweaks; here's part of my recipe:
a) Tung-Sol 12AX7 in V1; a Shuguang 12AX7B can also do the trick.
b) Electro Harmonix 12AX7 in V2.
c) Sovtek 12AX7-LPS in V5.
d) Presence no further than 11:00.
e) Highs no further than...
I got the GT-OD mainly because of the sound and the green casing (yeah, I know... childish decision  ), althought there was a Classic Overdrive available at the time, at about the same price. You cannot go wrong with MXR overdrives, they sound really good.
In the realm of 7-string guitars Ibanez is definitely hard to beat. And yes, if you don't want to have a guitar with a neck that feels like a baseball bat, stay away fron Schecters.
Mmm good to know that; I remember reading somewhere that Dave Mustaine also used to have JBs in his Jacksons in the 80's and 90's.
As far as DiMarzio SD goes... The guys from Suffocation use them.
So you have the Super 2 in your axe? In which position, bridge or neck? I'm thinking about putting the Super 2 in the bridge position of my BC Rich Ironbird, to give it a sharper sound.
Wow, I see a lot of love for D'Addarios, I'm probably going to try a set again; it's been 4 years since I've given up on them. I've been using 0.011-0.052 DR's (nice strings) and Dunlop (warmer and punchier).
