Single rectifiers, why no rectifier tube???

So true, tubes just have a bit of sag, the solid state diodes are quick, so that is the difference. Hearing it, very hard, but playing you can tell. Cheers! In essence all amplifiers with tubes could be called Rectifiers, since they use one or the other. I had an app with tube rectifier, and...

Single rectifiers, why no rectifier tube???

Question is WHY do you have to comment? Mind your own business and stop being the Mesa Police with a negative attitude. Stop reading the boogieforum, all info is available to fix a Mesa Amp from Boogie, or their factory outlets. This is just people communicating. By the way, Deluxe Reverb...

Single rectifiers, why no rectifier tube???

Mesa is incorrect in labeling "rectifier amp" without a tube rectifier IMO. What the tube does is: "The rectifier: If a vacuum tube rectifier is used, sag is generated because of the internal resistance of the tube. Unlike a solid-state rectifier, a tube rectifier exhibits a fair amount of...

    1984 S.O.B. I Like It

Most likely post production added. I heard about the EV speakers and some Altec, but had not heard about JBL's as an option. But maybe, it was made for a well known guitar player and Mesa did it for the person. Also a lot of Boogies were sold out of Prune Music, local store and they might have...

Back in the Boogie club, '82 SOB

I went to the factory when I purchased my SOB, and Doug was the salesperson, and yes, they would do most anything you wanted, that was available. Not sure, now with such a large company, and making so many amps that this is still true. Most people in the Bay Area during the 70's 80's could just...

    1984 S.O.B. I Like It

I have had my SOB since 84 when I ordered a long chassis head, simul class amp. I later had Mesa in Petaluma install the amp in a cabinet. This is the only Mesa Boogie I still have. Works great, try to forget about the limit control. Any other info you need, let me know. Also many SOB owners...

best wood glue on old broken Mesa cabs?

Titebond is GREAT! I have been using their glue for years in woodworking. II or III would be your choice. Instead of screws, I would recommend using a drill and install dowels with the titebond glue. Glue first, clamp as previously mentioned and if necessary a temp screw to keep it in place...

New Old Amp Day: Son of Boogie

Yes it does have an effects loop, and the control in the middle of the 2 open jacks is for Reverb. The original amp was just a head, with no reverb or loop. I previously lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, and just an hour+ drive to Petaluma where Boogie is located. They did the reverb and...

Factory Mods to the Mark series

Mark, Michael Bendinelli did the effects loop on my amp back in the 90's. It was wired the same as the Mark series. Do not have the schematic, but Mesa should be able to get that to you. Good Luck on your adventure. Looks like your Amp was modified from the picture you posted.

Factory Mods to the Mark series

The amp is in storage until August, the only picture I have is attached. This is a long chassis, and the reverb pan sits at the bottom of the cabinet like a Fender Amp.
