Hey all - is anyone using an EQ pedal with their RA? I tried a Maxon EQ in the loop of my RA and it added a ton of noise - is that typical when using an EQ pedal? Anyone having better results with a different pedal? I'm not completely sold on using one at all anyways, just trying something new...

I know what you mean - I never really used a lot of reverb, but now I find myself using it all the time. Strymon is the best!

Hey all - just sharing a pic of my new guitar - it's a 2014 Gibson R8 VOS - sunrise teaburst. Took a pic of it along side my 2013 Gibson R9 VOS in faded tobacco. 8) 8) 8) ...my wife said no more guitars for the rest of the year! haha.

oh, and by the way...before you say I'm crazy for dropping $340 on speakers - I sold my V30's on fleabay for $100 each - so, I only really spent $140 out of pocket - not too bad! :wink:

Yup, same here - reverb adds a little extra noise with no attenuation - but I pretty much always use the multi-soak feature so I don't really notice much noise at all - one of the quieter tube amps I've ever owned/used.

diddlydan - based off of what you are looking for in an amp, the Royal Atlantic sounds like EXACTLY what you are looking for..."british distortion and good quality cleans" could be an exact quote from Mesa themselves. That is the mojo and soul of the RA-100. Simply put - best amp I've ever...

I've had mine about 1 1/2 now - still using the stock tubes, and still not really gassing either - well, maybe a little bit for the new Friedman JJ Jerry Cantrell sig head - but they want like $3500 for just the head :shock:

A few lessons learned from the first go around (for anyone who wants to change their grill cloth): 1. you gotta put the Mesa face plate back on before you fully install the grill (on the RA only) - the wood behind the grill is cut out for the face plate to be "sunk in" - I realized I didn't do...
