    Power Attenuator and .50 Caliber

I use a custom made 8 ohm attenuator for home playing with the same amp. For me having one is a must since you can't really hear how good the lead channel is if the master volume is below 4 (or even 5). And in my room and with my cab that's way too loud! However, with all attenuators I've tried...

    Output question for Cal+

Well, there seem to be conflicting opinions on that particular topic and unfortunately I am not an engineer myself to be able to confirm or deny any of them. At least everyone agrees that matching impedance is the way to go.

Thanks, I was thinking of something similar. What about the phase inverter (V5 I guess). I know many people consider the PI the most important part of the preamp after V1 but I don't have a clue whether I should be using 12AX7, 5751, 12AT7 or even 12AU7 there?

    Preamp tubes for Mesa .50 Cal+ ?

Hi Guys, New Mesa user from Bulgaria here! I just bought my first one a week ago. It is a Mesa Boogie .50 Caliber+ head made in April, 1989. :) I have to say I was quite disappointed when I turned it on for the first time. It sounded quite lifeless on both channels with the lead channel...

I also have a .50 Caliber+ and the signature says 89/4. P.S. New to the board, I got this amp a week ago and it is my first Mesa :)
