    Tubes Dying, recommendations?

RocknRory, I'm due for a tube replacement as well. How would you compare the stock Mesa 6L6's to the Winged C 6L6's?

    Fuzz pedals and Mark V?

Does anyone here use a fuzz with their mark v? I have my eye on the EHX Big Muff with tone and wicker switches, but I'm open to other suggestions. I'm looking for something that might get me in the ballpark of Matt Pike's tone on early High on fire albums, early Queens of the Stone Age, The...

Mesa Mark V - Metallica Tone

The diversity of artists who use Mark series amps is really what attracted me to the Mark V. I always knew about James Hetfield using mark amps, and when I found out that Carlos Santana, The Rolling Stones, and The Grateful Dead had all used them at some point I was sold. I'm not a deadhead or a...

Mark V slave out into Carvin Legacy

I get some humming through the Legacy running it this way, though it's minimal enough for me to just deal with it for the time being. I was thinking it's probably a ground loop issue as well.

Mark V slave out into Carvin Legacy

In nearly three years of owning my Mark V head it hadn't occured to me until now to try using the slave output. Last night I decided to give it a shot, and I'm really happy with the results so far. I have a Carvin Legacy that hasn't seen much use since buying my Mark, and it has a set of JJ...

Mark V owners: Does your mark V have this inscription?

Number 00030 has it, I laughed when I read it.

    Gauges

I use Ernie Ball 11-48 tuned to D standard on my Les Paul classic. I started tuning down to D standard to play along with Mastodon, who happen to be my favorite band, and stuck with it because it feels and sounds perfect to me. I used DR's for a long time, but I got a great deal on a dozen sets...

    Almost 1 year now....

Mine was delivered around the 20th of May last year. I have to say it took me some time to get used to the controls and really learn how the amp works to find the tones I was after, but once I did it was soooo worth the time and effort. I'm still tweaking here and there if only to keep things...

    Tube Failure?

I had planned to call Mesa tomorrow anyway. I don't know if the tubes are still under warranty though, aren't they only covered for six months?

    Tube Failure?

I was playing my Mark V last night at 45w, and the volume started to drop along with a more distorted sound and humming through the speakers. I looked in the back and one of the two middle tubes looked to be glowing much hotter than the other. I shut the amp down right away, and then tried it...

    Got a Mark V head!!

Completely agreed. I love this amp, couldn't care less if it sounds exactly like a IIc+ or a IV, or even a Mark I. Great sounds, great flexibility. I haven't even given another amp a second look since I got mine about five months back, whereas before I was constantly wanting other amps thinking...

Love and hate go hand in hand...

I haven't really posted here much since getting my Mark V in May, I wanted to take time to get used to the amp and form a solid opinion, and that took a lot of time and tweaking. It really took me a while to get sounds I liked, it is a tricky amp to dial in. Reading the manual and having a...

    Retubing a Mark 5....

Wait, if the Mesa tubes are relabeled JJ's, then how is anything you would get from Eurotubes different? I'm talking pre-amp tubes, obviously switching you type of power tube will change things. I have a quad of JJ e34l's and a quad of Ruby el-34s I will eventually try in my mk v.

    Rehearsal Spaces

We have a similar problem in my area, though I'm fortunate enough to have a rehearsal space that is secure and cheap. I think a lot of landlords are reluctant to rent to bands because many times, it just invites trouble. A vacant school was used for rehearsal space here for years, and the...

    Horrible News!

I completely agree, look at your source. I've heard so much B.S. come from G.C. sales people that I wouldn't believe them if they told me the sky was blue. It's insulting to your intelligence at times. They aren't all bad, but for the most part G.C. staff are useless.
