    TS9 settings

mate the ts9 is killer in front of any gain device, i see it like an eq device!

    Tube screams

get on ebay and grab a second hand maxon made ts9 from the 80's, they're the real deal, collectible which should hold their value, and cost about the same as the new ones

Vintage 1980's Boss Dm2 Analog Delay MIJ

Just got hold of one of these from evilBay. It sounds lush! One of the best delays I've ever heard. The repeats are nice and warm/dark, and really gel into each other as they fade away. The slapback is also one of the best out there. It does the self oscillating thing very well. The only...

New Studio Caliber (my first tube amp!)

well i used a bit of assumption and changed what i think is v1 (closest to input jack) with a new electro harmonix 12ax7 (sovtek?), it sounds much better now. i changed the tube and turned the amp on, there was no crackling or anything, and there seems to be less hiss, it also sounds warmer and...

New Studio Caliber (my first tube amp!)

where would i find the date inside? there's a little bit of quiet hiss going on, which is apparently normal for tubes. but there was some intermittent crackling the other day, my friend advised me to buy a new 12ax7 and switch out my preamp tubes one at a time to see if it's a dodgy tube. does...

New Studio Caliber (my first tube amp!)

there are 6x 12ax7's in the preamp stage and 2x EL84's in the output stage. it says 'studio caliber' like the pic, and has exactly the same tolex as the pic! the only manual i can find on the boogie site relevant enough to it is the 'studio cal DC-2'. i'm thinking post 1990? not sure! it looks...

To loop, or not to loop..??

have OD and gain pedals in front, and my compressor in the loop but with the mix at about 50%. initially I did this because my compressor (vintage ibanez cp9) has a low end roll off that is too prominent, so I wanted to mix the dry signal with the compressed signal to help retain the original...

New Studio Caliber (my first tube amp!)

Hi I bought this amp on ebay a couple of months ago and I really love it (this pic is from the internet, but mine is exactly the same, same tolex too). The thing sounds amazing! I've just put new output tubes in it (they were quite old so I got some JJ EL84's) and it's like an even better amp...

    New Tubes - Sound Droput

thanks fella. i tried jigging the cables about and i took my compressor out of the fx loop, haven't had any issues since. going to play for a bit today with the compressor in the fx loop and see if it's ok. the amp sounds really great!

OD/Dist/Fuzz/Boost pedals used by Studio .22 players??

i'm running 3 od/gain pedals at the moment in front of mine wampler triple wreck (massive selection of high gain sounds!) dytone ooh drive II (very transparent overdrive, retains amps tone, breaks up heavy but late, sounds kinda british!) vintage 1984 ts9 jrc4558 chip (does what it says!)...

    New Tubes - Sound Droput

My Studio Caliber 22 needed new tubes, it was sounding a bit hissy/fizzy, so I bought a matched pair of JJ EL84 Tesla Cryo's from Watford Valves. It sounds great, so much warmer and clearer than before. Not brighter, but warmer! Only thing is there is an intermittent sound drop out (it's...

Mesa Boogie F30 or Studio Caliber

hi guys, this is my first post so please be kind! i have the opportunity to buy either of the above and i'm a bit stuck. they're available 2nd hand for collection and i don't drive. they're the same price too! the F30 is within about 4 miles away so I could test that out, but the studio...
