Comparing Mark IV Mode to a IIC+

Thanks! That's what I was looking to see. Since I haven't been playing live, I've been messing with the settings and learning more about the amp, and it seems to make sense that the Mark IV mode may be closer to what someone would expect the IIC+ mode to sound like based on what I've read in...

    The Mark V in general.

I always say that when I have amps that I like, I make them all sound the same. While I think that if you spend most of your time in channel 3 like I do you have to like the "flavor" of the Mark sound, if that works for you, you can get any tone you want out of this amp.

Comparing Mark IV Mode to a IIC+

Just curious. I see a lot of people comparing the IIC+ mode to a real IIC+ and the Mark IV mode to a real Mark IV, but has anyone compared the Mark IV mode to a real IIC+? Since the design of the channel is supposed to be based on the IIC+ regardless of mode and the Mark IV mode is using the...

    Boogie Mark V brown sound

I know that this is an old post, but I just tried these settings and wow! I've had my Mark V for several years, and once I got settings that worked for me I never really touched them again. I never would've thought to run it like that. I had it running through my combo along with an EVH 1x12...

Did everyone see the New Triple Crown?

I played a Stilleto Ace for seven years, and that's what I really wished that it would have been. The gain sounds similar and you are given all of that flexibility and reverb. I would like to hear the high gain settings with anything other than what those guys were playing though. I know how...

    Favourite commercial Mark tones

Check this out. I've posted it before, but it's one of the few where you see Tony Iommi confirmed playing Boogies. I really like the way that his playing sounds through it. Actually, I love that siund overall. There is something about that treble and mid focus on the Mark lead channels that...

    Simple Mark V wet-dry-wet rig

Great post. Eveyone screws around with speakers, cabinets, this and that, but where it all comes together is your live tone (or whatever) ,which in the end, unless you are completely unmic'd, is coming through places that are processing the sound after your speaker. I love the tone of my amp...

    Line 6 DL4 solution?

The Boss DD-20 has an adjustable 4db level of some sort for that reason, I imagine. I have been using that pedal for 9 years with various amps, including my Mark V, without an issue. I can't vouch much for the quality of delays because I use it just for slapback, but it has about a zillion...

Mark V Combo Reverb Not Working

I didn't try switching the wires because I have never taken it apart, but good suggestion. I guess it's going to the shop. I can live without reverb, but I can't live without every feature on the amp not working as it should, especially for those rare times, like the other day when I...

Mark V Combo Reverb Not Working

Hi Everyone, As stated in the title, the reverb on my combo is not working. I rarely even use it, so I don't know how long it has been non functional. If I move the amp, I hear the springs pinging, but I don't get any reverb when I turn it on. Here is what I did to troubleshoot: + Checked to...

    Stoked!

I used to frequently get compliments on my tone when I owned my Ace. I had it for 7 years until I got a 5150 3, and a Mark V. I like those amps better, but I don't get the same compliments on my tone like I did with the Ace.

    1x12 or 2x12 recto cab

The easiest thing to do, and it's not always possible, is to mic tne guitar if you have a decent P.A. That really takes a lot of the cabinet out of the picture. That way, you have the tone you want and just need to adjust for practice and gigs. Another option is using a stand. Guitar cabinets...

    My in-depth Mark V review

Perfect review. I really haven't tried all of the modes on my combo, and that review is making me want to spend some time tweaking. It's interesting that you compared the Extreme mode to a 5150 amp. My Mark V sits next to my 5150 iii and I never even thought to compare the two. Now I'm really...

    Overdrive pedal for ACE?

I think that it depends what you are looking to get out of it. I used a Boss Super Overdrive for years with my Ace combo and it just matched great. I never liked Tube Screamers with that amp.
