Question for you all.

My Lonestar Classic Head Output volume does not function when I switch to loop in from hard bypass. Do I need to actually connect a pedal into the effect loop for it to function? If I don’t need to connect a pedal then any thoughts of why not functioning? Recently replaced all the tubes a few months ago. Everything else works well. Thank you in advance. Cheers.

When you hard bypass the loop you lose the solo boost and master volume, as they are part of the same circuit. That's why there is "LOOP ON" between the "OUTPUT" and "SOLO" controls.

Same with the Mark V, hard bypass skips the FX loop and master volume. It gets crazy loud. Putting a pedal in the loop won't help because the loop is bypassed.

Yep, it's the same on my Tremoverb and Stiletto as well. The loop is part of the same circuit that Mesa uses, and when they added the "solo" function it's pretty much just a secondary master volume, and is part of the circuit as well, as is the "send level" on the back, which is almost alike ANOTHER master volume. When the loop is out, all of that is bypassed.

Yep. I was confused and surprised to discover that the Send Level is still in effect when the FX loop is bypassed via the footswitch. They are 3 different points to control the output volume, but the master and solo are post-return, while the send level affects the signal hitting whatever is in the loop.

Yeah, it is kinda weird, and definitely causes chaos when it gets turned all the way down and people who are new to their amp can't figure out why they have no sound.

Thank you! Figured as much but wasn’t sure. Appreciate it.
