Mk IV LD+EQ sound question

I have a new-to-me 1995 Mk IV which I've just re-tubed (w/Mesa tubes). I am puzzled by the sound of the LD vs. LD+EQ. With the EQ, the sound has SOOO much more depth -- almost like a delay/chorus of sorts. Don't get me wrong, I actually LIKE sound, but my question is "Is this the standard behavior?" (This is the only Mk IV I've sampled.)

After reading my post, I should add that the NEW tubes did not change the behavior before/after.

Oh that's just how they sound. If you have been playing any of the channels with the EQ on and then kick it off the amp sounds flat. Just goes to show you how powerful a well set EQ can affect your tone. Have fun withit.
