Hey all,

I did the search, and it looks pretty straightforward to me. But does anyone have pics so I can see exactly where R130 is? Thanks!!

Edward

I used to have the pictures hosted on my yahoo photos page but they have been moved to my photobucket. Here they are:

Hey Tim ...THANKS!!!

Yeah, yours was the post where I saw the "pictures moved to photobucket" link, and I was bummed. So a huge thanks for putting those up!!

So it looks like "R130" is even printed on the PCB ...cool. Can I do the snip and solder work with with the PCB in place, or will I need to remove it? ...It looks like you soldered from the correct side. :) I was thinking of simply snipping as close to the resistor body as I could and just soldering to the exposed nibs of wire. And did you just use any 150K audio taper pot? Thanks a bunch!

Edward

The board does not need to be removed. Be careful with the heat because those small pads will want to lift easily if too much heat is used. The pads have a barrel going through the board to the other side so you can remove the resistor and insert the wire into the open holes. 250K audio pot. There is a thread about this where someone actually posted the mesa part number so you could get the true correct part form them, it is probably only a few dollars.

591842 is the part # for the markIV r2 pot ..
250 k audio taper . I don't have a 4 so that part may be a pull pot ?
Anyway as per boogiebabies advice I ordered some parts from Ampwares . 10 day delivery . Plus they have some cool stuff for maintaining your amp .
You might try them .

UPDATE: I just completed the R2 volume pot mod...nice!!

First off, thanks Tim for your excellent pictures, and to all the rest of you who provided feedback!! It was a 5-minute operation after the chassis was opened up ..."easy" is an understement.

As for parts, I ordered the stock Mesa "little" knob so it would look factory just like the presence and dir out controls, and also got the 10K pot (which is the Direct Out's pot value on a tip from another thread :) ).

Bottom line, it works great. I can turn the R2 down just a tad to balance out the overall volume with the R1. Simple results, yet significant satisfaction!! Thanks, guys!!!

Hey guys, bumping an old thread, got a mk 3 no stripe and did the r2 volume mod. 250k audio taper between the lifted end of r130 and r131 following the instructions on this site. Issue is im running volume around 8 and r2 is quieter than r1 when the pot is maxed / loudest. I can drop r2 volume without issue and can get a volume bump at low r1 volume settings. Anyone else seeing this / is it typical with high volume setting? I can balance r1 and r2 rolling back volume on the guitar to clean up r1 but im trying to avoid that if possible. Just trying to make sure my r2 is still working right
