I was thinking about getting the Triode mod for my green stripe. So I called Mesa today and... I'm sad to report that Mike B is no longer doing these mods! I was also told that no one else there can do it. What a bummer! :( :(
The ironic thing is, I actually had my amp there 8 months ago for tune up/service and had the opportunity to get the triode mod then, but for some reason I declined.

Does anyone know if this mod can be done by "Do it yourself" method? Or if there are other alternatives? I'm basically looking to make the amp less stiff, especially for lead playing.

A DPDT switch and some wire will do the trick. Look at the Mark IV schematic for a reference. http://www.webphix.com/schematic%20heaven/www.schematicheaven.com/boogieamps/boogie_mkiv.pdf

I'm not exactly sure how to read the schematics. But I see the Pent & Tri switches shown on the power amp schematic, but I'm not sure what to do from there. Can it be explained easily...what I should be doing/looking for? Is this mod fairly simple to do?

I have some soldering experience and do my own wiring/set up on my guitars. So I'm confident I could mod the amp with some guidance. Thanks!

So the mod only affects the outer sockets correct? Will triode still work in Simul-class, or only class A mode?
