I just bought an '86 Mark III Purple Stripe. It's in beautiful shape but the reverb's non-functional. I spoke to the seller who said that he might have crossed the output and input wires at the chassis during a recent re-assembly. This was in fact true. I've corrected that problem and put in a full set of new tubes but the reverb's still not working.
My plan is to wire my amp into the reverb unit on a friend's '85 Mark III and see if that works. Then I'll know if it's the unit. I can always replace the wiring but beyond that I'm unsure. Could any of the circuitry have been damaged by operating with the input and output reversed? Is it still possible to purchase a repleacement reverb unit from Mesa? Any troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated. My local amp guy is great but he's working very hard these days at being retired.
