Connecting a 4x12 cab and my combo speaker at the same time

I'm wanting to give this a try but am having a few problems with my setup that's preventing me at the moment.

How would I connect up my combo AND a 4x12 cab? Would I take lines out of both 4OHM connections and then connect them to the combo and the 8OHM input on the cab? I understand that both outputs have to add up to the impedance of what you are connecting it to? I don't want to give this a try until I know for certain that I'm dong the right thing! Can anyone help?

Exactly right. Two 8 ohm loads = 4 ohms. so, you plug each 8ohm cabinet into a 4ohm jack on the amp.
