I just took shippment a California tweed 10" 2:20 yesterday. Set it up today. Immediately the reverb level sensitivity with the dial knob was very high. For example with a Princeton Reverb I typically don't go beyond 3. However with this new amp I barely turn the knob and the reverb level is extremely high. In the past I have used a lower gain tube to give more "room" to adjust the reverb level. Is this a reasonable solution for a Mesa amp like this? 12AU7

Then I would try a 12AY7. I have a read (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not an expert on this), that a 12AU7 is a high current tube and may not always be a good choice. I have used 12AY7s in place of 12AX7s and they work fine. Just lower output.

The 12AU7 is the lowest gain tube. Therefore utilized to replace the stock tube to get more control on the reverb. High current has nothing to do with it.
