i've been using a Weber Mass Lite with my MKIIb for about 12 years now... works like a charm.

that's a good sound! i wouldn't even call that tone punk, it's just good high energy rock to my ears. yes, good articulation.. never played a bare knuckles pickup, but i will say, that amp sounds perfect.
